26. Darier disease : more than skin deep
Sammanfattning : Darier disease (DD) is a severe, inherited dermatological disorder with a characteristic clinical and histopathological appearance. It is caused by mutations in the ATP2A2 gene, encoding a Ca2+ pump in the endoplasmic reticulum, Sarco/Endoplasmic Reticulum Ca2+-ATPase 2 (SERCA2), which has been found to be an essential regulator of cellular Ca2+ homeostasis. 28. Towards Heart Rate Variability Tools in P-Health : Pervasive, Preventive, Predictive and Personalized
Sammanfattning : Heart rate variability (HRV) has received much attention lately. It has been shown that HRV can be used to monitor the autonomic nervous system and to detect autonomic dysfunction, especially vagal dysfunction. Reduced HRV is associated with several diseases and has also been suggested as a predictor of poor outcomes and sudden cardiac death. LÄS MER
29. Measure for measure. Outcome assessment of arthritis treatment in clinical practice
Sammanfattning : Objective: To investigate (i) the performance and agreement between various activity indices and response criteria in TNF-blockade of RA; (ii) the predictive ability of different response criteria and disease activity states regarding continuation of anti-TNF treatment of RA; (iii) Euro-QoL-5-dimensions utility development during TNF blockade of RA, PsA and SpA. Also, (iv) to develop a simple, utility-based outcome measure, the number needed to treat per quality adjusted life year gained (NNQ) and apply it in RA, PsA and SpA patients on anti-TNF treatment. 30. On the necessity of screening and national registration of congenital cataracts
Sammanfattning : Objectives: The overall aim of this thesis was to contribute to improvements in the management of congenital cataract by defining the most efficient screening procedure, examining the magnitude of the morbidity rate, optimizing the timing of surgery by relating surgical outcome to age at intervention and severity of visual deprivation and furthermore by evaluating costs versus consequences of introducing the most efficient screening procedure found, on a national basis. Methods: Paper I: 72 children born between 1992 and 1998 in the Stockholm County Council region, Västra Götaland and Halland county, Linköping-Motala, Malmö, and Lund, who had surgery for congenital cataract before the age of one year were included in a retrospective study.
