  1. 1. Norovirus and rotavirus susceptibility : studies from a Nicaraguan birth cohort

    Författare :Yaoska Reyes; Johan Nordgren; Lennart Svensson; Miren Iturriza-Gómara; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Norovirus; Rotavirus; Birth cohort; Gastroenteritis; Incidence; Children; Secretor; Immune response.;

    Sammanfattning : Norovirus and rotavirus are major causes of pediatric acute gastroenteritis (AGE). It is estimated that norovirus is responsible for ~20% of all diarrheal diseases in children worldwide and causes approximately 200,000 deaths each year, mostly in young children and the elderly. Sammanfattning : Rotavirus (RV) is a double-stranded RNA virus that mainly affects young children under the age of five years. It is one of the leading causes of dehydrating gastroenteritis. Every year, about 200,000 child deaths occur due to RVinfection. Vaccines exist and are in use worldwide. LÄS MER

    Författare :Joy Nakawesi; Virusrekognition; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rotavirus; classical dendritic cells; Lymphoid organ hypertrophy; B cells; IgA; Retinoic acid; CD8 T cells; TLR3 and Poly I:C ;

    Sammanfattning : Rotavirus (RV) infections remain the leading cause of world-wide diarrhea-associated morbidity and mortality among children 200,000 deaths annually mostly in the low-income countries of Africa and Asia. Efficient clearance of the primary RV infection and protection from future re-infections is mediated by adaptive immune responses. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies on rotavirus replication

    Författare :Alexis Fuentes; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Rotavirus is the leading cause of dehydrating diarrhea in infants and young children globally. In cells infected with rotavirus SA11 the synthesis of viral RNA and protein predominated already after a few hours. Cellular RNA remained intact, but viral mRNA was preferentially utilised for protein synthesis. LÄS MER
