6. Towards strategic development of maintenance and its effects on production performance : A hybrid simulation-based optimization framework
Sammanfattning : Managing maintenance in manufacturing within an economical short-termism framework and taking the consequential long-term cost effects into account is hard. The increasing complexity of managing maintenance and its impact on the business results calls for more advanced methods to support long-term development through effective activities in the production system environment. 7. Capturing the Operational Improvement Potential of Production Systems
Sammanfattning : The operational level is where a company’s manufacturing strategy becomes reality and where customer orders are fulfilled through transforming raw materials into finished goods. The research presented here examines the productivity and capacity of operational processes in manufacturing firms. LÄS MER
8. Effects of dissolved humic matter on phytoplankton
Sammanfattning : Water colour is currently increasing in thousands of lakes in the northern hemisphere due to an increased input of terrestrial dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and more specifically coloured disscolved humic matter (DHM). I studied how water colour affects the light climate in the epilimnion and, as a consequence, phytoplankton biomass, species composition and production in lakes in southern Sweden. LÄS MER
9. Characterization of adventitious root formation in Populus species and Norway spruce
Sammanfattning : Adventitious root (AR) formation is a form of post-embryonic development and is a key adaptive trait in plants. De novo adventitious root regeneration represents an elegant evolutionary innovation that allows many plant species to multiply through vegetative propagation; it is widely used in forestry and horticulture to multiply elite genotypes. 10. A Computational Framework for Control of Machining System Capability : From Formulation to Implementation
Sammanfattning : Comprehensive knowledge and information about the static and dynamic behaviour of machine tools, cutting processes and their interaction is essential for machining system design, simulation, control and robust operation in safe conditions. The very complex system of a machine tool, fixture and cutting tools during the machining of a part is almost impossible to model analytically with sufficient accuracy. LÄS MER
