11. On laminins and laminin receptors and their roles in regeneration and myelination of the peripheral nerve
Sammanfattning : One important prerequisite for successful axon regeneration is that appropriate extracellular molecules are available for outgrowing axons and that receptors for such molecules are found in the regenerating neuron. Laminin associated integrin subunits alpha3, alpha6, alpha7 and beta1 mRNAs are here shown to be present in rat motoneurons, and in the case of integrin subunits alpha7 and gamma1, also immunohistochemical (IHC) labelling of the proteins was demonstrated. 12. Regulation of signaling molecules in sensory neurons and spinal cord : studies on nerve injury models and transgenic mice
Sammanfattning : Nerve injury may cause neuropathic pain in patients. Similar symptoms can also be seen in some animal models. LÄS MER
13. Population dynamics of the perennial weed species Sonchus arvensis L
Sammanfattning : Sonchus arvensis L. is a perennial weed that is widely prevalent in annual crops in northern Europe and can cause substantial yield losses. The abundance of S. arvensis has increased recently, primarily due to expansion of organic farming and increased use of reduced tillage. LÄS MER
14. Phytophthora and Oak Decline - Impact on Seedlings and Mature Trees in Forest Soils
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated the occurrence of soilborne species of the plant pathogenic genus Phytophthora in southern Swedish oak forests and their possible involvement in southern Swedish oak decline. The emphasis was on the impact of P. quercina on Quercus robur in acid forest soils. LÄS MER
15. Studies on plant-microbe interaction to improve stress tolerance in plants for sustainable agriculture
Sammanfattning : Biotic and abiotic stress factors have a major impact on plants and cause extensive losses to crop production. Bacteria that provide growth promotion and prime stress tolerance of plants have great potential to improve crop production and support durable and environmental friendly resource management. LÄS MER
