  1. 1. Daylight compliance of multi-dwelling apartment blocks : Design considerations, evaluation criteria and occupant responses

    Författare :Iason Bournas; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; daylight; electric lighting; policy; regulation compliance; simulation; questionnaire; daylight metrics; perception; brightness; user preferences; urban density; block typology; room geometry; room function; room orientation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the daylight compliance of residential spaces, in particular apartments in multi-dwelling building blocks, and provides knowledge that may prove useful for the development of future daylight criteria for dwellings. The implications of design choices on daylight compliance of spaces and the effect of daylight criteria on the level of compliance are at the core of this work. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of Edge Diffraction and Scattering: Applications to Room Acoustics and Auralization

    Författare :Rendell Torres; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; diffraction; virtual environments; scattering; diffusion; architectural acoustics; auralization; virtual reality; room acoustics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines ways of including edge diffraction and surface scattering to improve room acoustics auralization, i.e., the binaural replication of an acoustic environment. The approach combines numerical and psychoacoustical studies to discern what level of computational accuracy is necessary to obtain perceptually adequate replication. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Magnetic Refrigeration for Near Room-Temperature Applications

    Författare :Behzad A Monfared; Björn Palm; Joachim Claesson; Andrew Rowe; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnetic Refrigeration; Magnetic; Cooling; Magnetocaloric; Life Cycle Assessment; Modeling; Simulation; Optimization; Regeneration; Active Magnetic Regeneration; Bonded Regenerator; Heat Switch; Thermal Diode; Peltier; Solid-State; Prototype; Magnetisk Kylteknik; Magnetisk; Kylning; Magnetokalorisk; Livscykela-nalys; Modellering; Simulering; Optimering; Regenerering; Aktiv Mag-netisk Regenerering; Bunden Regenerator; Värmebrytare; Termodiod; Peltier; Solid-State; Prototyp; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Refrigeration plays a crucial role in many different sectors and consumes about 17% of the electricity produced globally. This significant energy consumption implies large share of refrigeration in primary energy consumption and other environmental impacts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Applications in Monocular Computer Vision using Geometry and Learning : Map Merging, 3D Reconstruction and Detection of Geometric Primitives

    Författare :David Gillsjö; Matematik LTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scene Completion; Deep Learning; Bayesian Neural Network; Room Layout Estimation; Line Segment Detection; Polygon Detection; Graph Neural Network; Map Merging; Structure from Motion; Minimal Solvers; Wireframe Estimation;

    Sammanfattning : As the dream of autonomous vehicles moving around in our world comes closer, the problem of robust localization and mapping is essential to solve. In this inherently structured and geometric problem we also want the agents to learn from experience in a data driven fashion. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Air diffusion and solid contaminant behaviour in room ventilation : a CFD based integrated approach

    Författare :Gery Einberg; Sture Holmberg; hazim Awbi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Technology; CFD modelling; airflow rate; ventilation efficiency; diffusers; solid contaminants; IAQ; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most fundamental human needs is fresh air. It has been estimated that people spend comparatively much time in indoor premises. That creates an elevated need for high-quality ventilation systems in buildings. The ventilation airflow rate is recognised as the main parameter for measuring the indoor air quality. LÄS MER
