  1. 1. Rolandic Epilepsy : A Neuroradiological, Neuropsychological and Oromotor Study

    Författare :Staffan Lundberg; Orvar Eeg-Olofsson; Raili Raininko; Ulrich Stephani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; rolandic epilepsy; children; idiopathic focal epilepsy; magnetic resonance imaging; proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy; cognition; neuropsychology; oromotor performance; dichotic listening; hippocampus; classification; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Rolandic epilepsy (RE) is the most common focal epilepsy syndrome in the pediatric age group with an onset between 3 and 13 years. The syndrome is defined by electro-clinically typical features and has been considered benign according to seizure remission before the age of 16 years. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiological Studies on Hippocampal Development : Morphological Variants and their Relationship to Epilepsy

    Författare :Dragan Bajic; Raili Raininko; Kai Ericson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; Brain development; Hippocampus; Epilepsy; Radiology; Radiologi; Radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : During fetal development, the hippocampal structures are folded forming the hippocampal sulcus which penetrates into the temporal lobe and then the entity rotates.  During this process, the hippocampal sulcus will be closed and the inverted hippocampus takes a rounded form. 3. 3. One-year versus three-year treatment of children with uncomplicated epilepsy : a prospective study

    Författare :Gunnar Braathen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this prospective study was to investigate whether one-year treatment was equally efficient, regarding the remission rate, as three-year treatment of children with uncomplicated epilepsy. Our aim was also to find any prognostic factors related to the remission rate which would enable us to predict the outcome for the individual child. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physiological consequences of Elongator complex inactivation in Eukaryotes

    Författare :Tony Karlsborn; Anders Byström; Hans Ronne; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elongator complex; wobble uridine modifications; IKBKAP; IKAP; Familial dysautonomia; Untargeted Metabolic profiling.; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Mutations found in genes encoding human Elongator complex subunits have been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders such as familial dysautonomia (FD), rolandic epilepsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In addition, loss-of-function mutations in genes encoding Elongator complex subunits cause defects in neurodevelopment and reduced neuronal function in both mice and nematodes. LÄS MER
