    Sammanfattning : Accurate predictions of binding free energies from computer simulations are an invaluable resource for understanding biochemical processes and drug action. The primary aim of the work described in the thesis was to predict and understand ligand binding to several proteins of major pharmaceutical importance using computational methods. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Water and Carbon Balance Modeling: Methods of Uncertainty Analysis

    Författare :John Juston; Per-Erik Jansson; Georg Lindgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modeling; uncertainty analysis; water balance; carbon balance; GLUE; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : How do additional data of the same and/or different type contribute to reducing model parameter and predictive uncertainties? This was the question addressed with two models – the HBV hydrological water balance model and the ICBM soil carbon balance model – that were used to investigate the usefulness of the Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) method for calibrations and uncertainty analyses.  The GLUE method is based on threshold screening of Monte Carlo simulations using so-called informal likelihood measures and subjective acceptance criterion. Sammanfattning : Alma mater matters: The value of school ties in the venture capital industry. This paper examines the role and estimates the economic value of social networks tied to academic institutions in the venture capital industry. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Aerodynamic Design and Aeromechanical Analysis of Mixed and Radial Flow Turbines : A study on meanline method, stator tilting endwall design and forced response analysis

    Författare :Yang Gao; Andrew R. Martin; Jens Fridh; Damian Vogt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbomachinery; CFD; aerodynamics; aeromechanics; mixed flow turbine; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this energy transition era, turbocharging is still an important technology for the automotive industry to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions in its vehicles. This importance can be seen from both conventional fossil-fuel powertrains, and emerging applications, such as increased utilization of biofuels along with hydrogen fuel cells. LÄS MER
