  1. 1. Adaptive behaviour in traffic : An individual road user perspective

    Författare :Sara Nygårdhs; Björn Johansson; Dick de Waard; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adaptation; road-user; comfort zone;

    Sammanfattning : Road-user adaptation is a prerequisite for traffic to run smoothly. By adaptation, the road user aims to ensure a feeling of comfort according to his or her present state and capability. In this thesis, adaptive behaviour of car drivers and cyclists in response to different factors is explored, using the individual perspective of the road user. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Application of automated video analysis to road user behaviour

    Författare :Aliaksei Laureshyn; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; safety indicators; traffic safety; traffic conflicts; Video analysis; road user behaviour;

    Sammanfattning : The successful planning, design and management of a traffic system is impossible without knowledge of how the traffic environment affects the behaviour of road users and how the behaviour is related to the main qualities of the traffic system (e.g. safety, efficiency). LÄS MER

  3. 3. A method for analysing the traffic process in a safety perspective

    Författare :Åse Svensson; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; intermediate method; Accidents; pedestrian safety; safety hierarchy; severity; traffic conflicts; interaction; road user behaviour; traffic safety; traffic process; time to accidents; safety indicators; surrogate measures;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to extend the traffic safety assessment concept to also include normal road user behaviour, thus not only exceptional behaviours such as accidents and serious conflicts. The goal is to provide a framework for a more thorough description and analysis of safety related road user behaviour in order to better understand the traffic safety processes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards computational models for road-user interaction: Drivers overtaking pedestrians and cyclists

    Författare :Alexander Rasch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active safety; vulnerable road users; cyclist safety; driver models; interaction models; overtaking; Euro NCAP; driver behavior; Pedestrian safety;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Crashes resulting from a failed interaction between drivers and vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists, can lead to severe injuries or fatalities, especially after failed overtaking maneuvers on rural roads where designated refuge areas are often absent, and impact speeds high. This thesis contains two studies that shed light on driver interaction with either 1) a pedestrian or 2) a cyclist, and oncoming traffic while overtaking. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The common customers on wheels : interaction between Swedish authority and vehicle industry in traffic safety product realisation

    Författare :Bo Zhu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :products realisation; inter-organisational interaction; vehicle industry; the swedish road administration SRA ; road user; traffic safety needs; traffic safety demands; legal approach; and commercial approach; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The overall goal of this thesis is to explore the possibilities to improve the interaction between the authorities and the vehicle industry in traffic safety product realisation. The difference between human traffic safety needs, road users' traffic safety needs and their traffic safety demands are highlighted. LÄS MER
