  1. 1. Efficient Winter Road Maintenance : A Study of Technical and Contractual Issues

    Författare :Adel Abdi; Hans Lind; Björn Birgisson; Lars Silver; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; climate; road climate and weather; road surface roughness; road friction; winter tyre; winter maintenance tools; RWIS; weather station; winter maintenance; contract type; road maintenance contract; winter maintenance contract; partnering; strategic alliance; public procurement; tender; incentives; bundling services; payment mechanism; remuneration models; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Since ancient times, roads have tied people and cultures together. Roads have been createdwith the aim of facilitating trade and cultural exchange among different regions in the world. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Road profile statistics relevant for vehicle fatigue

    Författare :Klas Bogsjö; Matematisk statistik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; operations research; Statistics; Matematik; Mathematics; model evaluation; vehicle fatigue; stochastic processes; road roughness; Road profiles; programming; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; operationsanalys; programmering; aktuariematematik;

    Sammanfattning : Road profiles are studied from a vehicle fatigue point of view. A wide range of roads have been measured: from smooth motorways to very rough gravel roads. It is observed that the road profiles consist of irregular sections, which makes the stationary Gaussian model unsuitable (Paper A). LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the influence of surface roughness on rolling contact forces

    Författare :Oskar Lundberg; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Leif Kari; Matthias Kröger; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rolling contact; Surface roughness; Contact forces; Contact modelling; Friction; Road; Asphalt; Substrate; Test-rig; Sliding; Stick–slip; Tyre; Rubber; Tread-block; Wheel–rail interaction; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Road vehicle tyres, railway wheels and ball bearings all generate rolling contact forces which are transferred within a finite area of contact between the rolling element and the substrate. Either it is visible or not for the human eye, a certain degree of roughness is always present on the contacting surfaces and it influences the generation of both vertical and lateral contactforces. 5. 5. A Bayesian approach to retrospective detection of change-points in road surface measurements

    Författare :Fridtjof Thomas; Urban Hjort; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Change-point detection; retrospective view; autoregressive processes; minimal imaginary training sample; road surface measurements; international roughness index; rutting; Laser-RST vehicles; road maintenance; pavement management; statistik; Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : First-order autoregressive processes are analysed for sudden changes in parameter value. In its most general form, a multivariate vector of measurements is allowed, and no prior knowledge about the involved parameters is required. LÄS MER
