6. The TRIM21/Ro52 E3 ligase and its antibodies in autoimmune disease
Sammanfattning : Patients with the systemic autoimmune diseases systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) often have autoantibodies against Ro/SSA (composed of the TRIM21/Ro52 and Ro60 antigens) and La/SSB. The biological function of the TRIM21/Ro52 protein itself has remained unknown until its recent description as a tripartite-motif (TRIM) family member and an E3 ligase involved in ubiquitination. 7. Structure-function studies on TRIM21/Ro52, a protein involved in autoimmune diseases
Sammanfattning : Several members of the tripartite motif (TRIM) protein family are involvedin antiviral activity and immunity and have been linked to severaldiseases. TRIM21, the main object of this thesis, is involved in Sjögrensyndrome (SS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), where patientsoften have autoantibodies against different epitopes on TRIM21. 8. Cutaneous lupus erythematosus and immunoreactivity in patients with Ro/SSA autoantibodies
Sammanfattning : Lupus crythematosus (LE) is a heterogenous autoimmune disorder with many different clinical presentations. Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is subdivided into acute, subacute and chronic CLE. Population-based epidemiologic studies of CLE are lacking arid the pathogenesis is not fully understood. 9. Studies on molecular regulation of inflammation in cutaneous lupus erythematosus
Sammanfattning : Lupus erythematosus (LE) is an autoimmune disease with a wide range of clinical manifestations. This spectrum spans from limited cutaneous disease to life-threatening rheumatic disorder involving vital organs. Sun exposure is an evident exogenous trigger of both cutaneous (CLE) and systemic LE (SLE). LÄS MER
10. Autoantibodies in congenital heart block
Sammanfattning : Neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE) affects neonates of Ro/SSA and La/SSB positive women. NLE is associated with several clinical manifestations including skin rash, cytopenia and congenital heart block (CHB). CHB is the most severe manifestation which can develop into a lethal atrioventricular (AV) block. LÄS MER
