The use of Social Democrat May Day demonstrations - a political procession similar to parades - in Stockholm as a tool for creating ideology, and to both maintain and disseminate Social Democratic ideology is analysed.    Sammanfattning : Is it possible to create rituals for meaning and belonging in a late modern context? Can the existential ritual become a place in which people today can develop a sense of being alive and real? In this thesis, four ritual contexts are identified in late modern Sweden, representing different ritual needs and possibilities.    Sammanfattning : Ritual creativity may seem like a contradiction in terms, yet the religious landscape in contemporary Euro-America is permeate with experimentation of ritual forms, different modalities of action, imagination and play as routes to authenticity.
