  1. 16. Asthma and Rhinitis among Adults in Sweden and China : Risk Factors in the Home Environment

    Författare :Juan Wang; Dan Norbäck; Christer Janson; Karin Engvall; Tuula Putus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rhinitis; Asthma; Home; Dampness; Mould; Ventilation; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; Arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis was to evaluate associations between selected home environment factors and asthma, rhinitis and respiratory symptoms among adults from Sweden, China and northern Europe. Two studies were performed in Sweden, one in China, and one longitudinal cohort study was performed in northern Europe. LÄS MER

  2. 17. A Sociological Approach to Indoor Environment in Dwellings : Risk factors for Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) and Discomfort

    Författare :Karin Engvall; Dan Norbäck; Eva Sandstedt; Göran Strid; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Indoor environment; Questionnaire; Atopy; Building age; Indoor air quality; Sick building syndrome SBS ; Validation; Dwelling; Energy conservation; Mechanical ventilation; Building dampness; Building reconstruction; Wood heating; Electric heating; Heat pump; Thermal Insulation; Sealing; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim was to study selected aspects of indoor environment in dwellings and their association with symptoms compatible with the sick building syndrome (SBS). A validated questionnaire was developed specifically for residential indoor investigations, using sociological principles and test procedures. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Self-rated health and respiratory symptoms among civil aviation pilots : Occupational and non-occupational risk factors

    Författare :Xi Fu; Dan Norbäck; Christer Janson; Berndt Stenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Civil Aviation; Aircraft pilot; Indoor environment; Self-rated health SRH ; Respiratory health; Asthma; Rhinitis; Headache; Fatigue; Insom-nia; Body mass index BMI ; Sense of Coherence SOC ; Psychosocial work environment; Quantitative PCR; Fungal DNA; Volatile organic compounds of microbial origin MVOC ; Cat allergen; Dog allergen; Horse allergen;

    Sammanfattning : There is concern about the indoor environment in aircraft but few stud-ies exist on self-rated health (SRH) and respiratory symptoms among pilots. Occupational and non-occupational risk factors for SRH, respira-tory symptoms and other symptoms among commercial pilots were investigated in this thesis. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Diabetes mellitus and risk of prostate cancer - A focus on shared risk factors and survivor bias

    Författare :Isabel Drake; Nutritionsepidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; carbohydrates; cohort; competing risk; diabetes mellitus; diet; epidemiology; fiber; gene; gene-environment; lifestyle; prostate cancer; survivor bias; transcription factor 7-like 2; whole-grain; alkylresorcinol metabolites;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is a heterogenous disease including very aggressive lethal tumors to incidentally discovered clinically insignificant tumors. Age, ethnicity, and family history are the only established risk factors. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Risk Assessment of Hygrothermal Performance - Building Envelope Retrofit

    Författare :Simon Pallin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; retrofit; Risk; hygrothermal; simulations.; residential; mold; energy savings;

    Sammanfattning : A risk assessment of the hygrothermal performance for a building envelope retrofit investigates possible variations in energy performance, indoor environment quality and moisture safety and elaborates on the risks of exceeding defined acceptance criteria. These risks can be properly determined if including the variability of, by the investigated retrofit, most influencing parameters. LÄS MER
