11. CYP2W1 in colorectal cancer : aspects of risk, prognosis and future treatment options
Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common disease and a major cause of cancer related death globally. Prognosis is rather good in early stages but worse in cases with disseminated disease. There is a constant need of developing all treatment modalities, which also has been done over the last decades. LÄS MER

13. Liver transplantation, cancer risk and comorbidity in acute porphyria
Sammanfattning : The porphyrias are a group of rare, mostly genetic, metabolic diseases caused by alterations in the eight enzymatic steps of the heme biosynthesis pathway. This thesis focuses on three of these diseases, acute intermittent porphyria (AIP), hereditary coproporhyria (HCP) and variegate porphyria (VP), collectively labeled acute porphyrias (AP) based on similarities in clinical and biochemical presentation. 14. The capital cost of holding inventory - A real options approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on three scientific papers dealing with costs and financial risks associated with keeping stock. Reasonable cost parameters are important to implement an effective inventory control system, which in turn is one of the key activities in logistics management. All three papers consider a single-level inventory system. LÄS MER
15. Calibration and Hedging in Finance
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats aspects of two fundamental problems in applied financial mathematics: calibration of a given stochastic process to observed marketprices on financial instruments (which is the topic of the first paper) and strategies for hedging options in financial markets that are possibly incomplete (which is the topic of the second paper).Calibration in finance means choosing the parameters in a stochastic process so as to make the prices on financial instruments generated by the process replicate observed market prices.
