1. Patterns of Coping: How Children with ADHD and Their Parents Perceive and Cope with the Disorder
Sammanfattning : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental diagnosis characterized by symptoms of excessive motor activity, impulsivity, and inattention. Previous research indicates that ADHD has negative implications on the psychosocial functioning of children with ADHD and their parents. LÄS MER
2. Mathematical modelling of clinical applications in fluid therapy
Sammanfattning : Background: This thesis presents a new application of fluid kinetic analysis using mathematical tools to evaluate fluid therapy problems. Several models were developed to mathematically handle fluid distribution concerning bleeding and anaesthesia, arterio-venous differences in plasma dilution, peripheral fluid accumulation and differences in fluid distribution among young and elderly patients. 3. Electrophysiological effects of contrast media. Dynamic vectorcardiographic monitoring of patients during coronary angiography
Sammanfattning : Objective: The aims of this work were to study, by means of dynamic vectorcardiography (VCG), the electrophysiological effects of contrast media (CM) injected into the coronary arteries and to evaluate which VCG variables are most suitable for comparing different CM. We also studied if CM-induced VCG changes differ from those seen after myocardial ischaemia. LÄS MER
4. Hemodynamic, respiratory and neorophysiological reactions after high : velocity behind armor blunt trauma
Sammanfattning : This thesis is addressing Behind Armor Blunt Trauma (BABT), defined as the nonpenetrating injury resulting from a ballistic impact on personal body armor. The protective vest may impede the projectile, but some of the kinetic energy is transferred to the body, causing effects such as pulmonary contusion, apnea, hypotension and occasionally death. 5. Severe Hemodilution - Clinical and Experimental Studies
Sammanfattning : In children, it is often desirable to minimize allogenic blood transfusion, and this thesis explores the physiology of an alternative method of managing perioperative blood loss: hemodilution with Ringer´s dextran. Methods Clinical studies: Arterial pressure, superior caval venous oxygen saturation (ScvO2) and blood lactate concentration (L) were studied during bone marrow harvesting (BMH) on 23 occasions in 19 children, 1-17 years of age, with healthy hearts and lungs.
