  1. 6. Disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis : Studies in interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor alpha, monocyte activity, acute phase markers, glucocorticoids, and disability

    Författare :Nils Gunnar Arvidson; Anders Larsson; Arvi Larsen; Øystein Førre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; acute phase markers; circadian rhythm; disability; disease activity; glucocorticoids; monocyte activation; rheumatoid arthritis; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : In the present studies, aspects of some disease activity measures in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been investigated, including the effect of glucocorticoids on this activity. In RA, serum interleukin(IL)-6 levels were elevated and were shown to have a circadian rhythm, with peak levels in the morning, declining towards low or normal levels in the afternoon and evening. 2. 7. Rho-GTPases in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Eric Malmhäll-Bah; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rho-GTPases; rheumatoid arthritis; innate immunity; adaptive immunity; RA treatment;

    Sammanfattning : The success of alleviating rheumatoid arthritis (RA) symptoms is complicated by both heterogeneity of the disease and lack of predictive markers to guide treatment options. Deregulated Rho-GTPases, a family of hydrolase enzymes catalyzing guanosine triphospate (GTP) to guanosine diphospate (GDP), have a detrimental role in many diseases including RA. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Secretory Autoantibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Karin Roos Ljungberg; Alf Kastbom; Anna Svärd; Klara Martinsson; Jonas Wetterö; Per-Johan Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Secretory autoantibodies; Immunoglobulins; Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies; ACPA; Mucosal immunity;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in which autoantibodies, such as anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), can be detected in the serum of patients. Autoantibodies may appear in the circulation years before clinical signs of joint inflammation occur, indicating that early immunological pathogenetic steps take place outside of the joints. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Genetic studies in rheumatoid arthritis : familial studies and analysis of relationships to atherothrombotic comorbidity

    Författare :Lisbeth Ärlestig; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Dan Holmberg; Åsa Torinsson Naluai; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; genetics; familial studies; ACPA and cardiovascular co-morbidity; reumatologi; rheumatology; genetik; Genetics; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease mainly affecting the joints but has also extra articular manifestations and an increased cardiovascular (CV) co-morbidity. Rheumatoid factor (RF) and antibodies against citrullinated proteins/peptides (ACPA) are diagnostically important and are related to a more severe disease. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Modified Glycopeptides Targeting Rheumatoid Arthritis : Exploring molecular interactions in class II MHC/glycopeptide/T-cell receptor complexes

    Författare :Ida E. Andersson; Jan Kihlberg; Anna Linusson Jonsson; Craig Crews; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Major histocompatibility complex; class II MHC; T-cell receptor; rheumatoid arthritis; collagen-induced arthritis; glycopeptide; amide bond isostere; comparative modeling; rational design; molecular docking; molecular dynamics simulation; statistical molecular design; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; Biorganic Chemistry; bioorganisk kemi; datorlingvistik; computational linguistics;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that leads to degradation of cartilage and bone mainly in peripheral joints. In collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), a mouse model for RA, activation of autoimmune CD4+ T cells depends on a molecular recognition system where T-cell receptors (TCRs) recognize a complex between the class II MHC Aq protein and CII259-273, a glycopeptide epitope from type II collagen (CII).
