  1. 16. Lifestyle habits and quality of life in established rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Karina Malm; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic, inflammatory, and systemic disease of unknown aetiology that affects 0.5‒1.0% of the population in Europe, more women than men. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Associations Between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Malignant Lymphomas

    Författare :Eva Baecklund; Christer Sundström; Anders Ekbom; Roger Hällgren; Tore Kvien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; rheumatoid arthritis; malignant lymphoma; diffuse large B-cell lymphoma; disease activity; disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug; Epstein-Barr virus; germinal centre-like non-germinal centre-like subtype; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are at increased risk of developing malignant lymphoma, although details about this association remain unclear. The aims of this thesis were to investigate risk factors for lymphoma in patients with RA and to characterize these lymphomas regarding subtype, presence of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), clinical manifestations and prognosis. 3. 18. T cells and chemokines in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Jonathan Aldridge; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; CD4 T cells; chemokines; disease activity; biomarker; CTLA-4Ig;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we investigated if circulating proportions of specific CD4+ T cell subsets and blood chemokine levels were associated with disease activity and/or could predict remission in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis (eRA). We also compared the effect of different biological treatments on both T cell subset proportions and chemokine levels. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Radiological methods in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis

    Författare :Tomas Söderman; Adel Shalabi; Anders Sundin; Suzanne Werner; Marie-Louise Wretling; Seppo Koskinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Cervical spine; Radiography; Computed tomography; Magnetic resonance imaging; ACL reconstruction; Knee laxity; Long-term evaluation; Osteoarthritis; KOOS; SF-36; Tegners Activity Scale; IKDC; Quality of life; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation's theme is the critical role of radiology when evaluating two different groups of patients. Firstly, patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) of the cervical spine were studied to evaluate upper spine instability with dynamic computed tomography (CT). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Aspects of physical activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis : associations with inflammation and cardiovascular risk factors

    Författare :Kristina Hörnberg; Solveig Wållberg Jonsson; Björn Sundström; Christina Helging Opava; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physiotherapy; rheumatoid arthritis; cardiovascular disease; aerobic capacity; physical activity; exercise; primary prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), partially attributable to systemic inflammation and traditional risk factors for CVD. Since physical activity (PA) is strongly related to CVD in the general population, the aim of this thesis was to describe aspects of PA in patients with RA, and further to analyse associations with disease activity, traditional risk factors for CVD and subclinical atherosclerosis.
