  1. 1. Echocardiographic assessment and B-type natriuretic peptide for risk evaluation in acute coronary syndromes

    Författare :Anita Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute coronary syndromes; Dopplerechocardiography; BNP; mortality; NT-proBNP; mitral regurgitation; congestive heart failure; restrictive filling pattern;

    Sammanfattning : Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) is one of the most common causes of emergency medical care and the single most common cause of death in Sweden in both men and women. Despite a significant improvement in survival in the acute phase, the frequency of rehospitalization and death in subsequent years is unacceptably high. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pulsed Tissue Doppler and left ventricular filling in acute coronary syndromes

    Författare :Cecilia Wallentin Guron; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Tissue Doppler; pulsed; regional timing; time interval; the E e filling index; E E; ; diastolic function; left ventricular filling pressure; right ventricular pressure; left atrial size.;

    Sammanfattning : Pulsed tissue Doppler is a new technique, which can investigate longitudinal left ventricular(LV) function, by measuring tissue velocities and timings. Patients with acute coronarysyndromes (ACS) frequently display a reduced longitudinal function. They also developglobal LV filling impairment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of physical activity and gravitational stress on cardiovascular control

    Författare :Patrik Sundblad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :leg exercise; posture; blood pressure; heart rate; cardiovascular model; heart function; stroke volume; tilting; orthostasis; simulated weightlessness; long-term hypokinesia;

    Sammanfattning : The long-term goal of the present work was to characterize the responses to gravitational challenges in exercising humans after long-term head-down-tilt bedrest (HDT). HDT is a simulation of weightlessness with respect to effects on the systemic circulation, and previous studies in resting men have suggested that impairments of arterial baroreflexes contribute to the orthostatic intolerance seen after HDT and spaceflight.
