Sammanfattning : Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a hereditary disorder caused by mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene, which leads to adenoma formation and subsequently to cancer, predominantly in the colon and the rectum but also in the duodenum. Sammanfattning : The surgical technique in performing restorative proctocolectomy has been extensively developed since its introduction in 1978. Recurrent attacks of inflammation in the neorectal ileal pouch mucosa, pouchitis, well known also from the Kock pouches, occur in a substantial number of the patients, and constitute the major clinical long-term problem observed.
