1. Perceptual Surface Reconstruction
Sammanfattning : How does the brain transform the 2-D light arrays in our eyes into a meaningful 3-D description of surfaces around us? What assumptions does the visual system make about the world when information is incomplete? And how are these assumptions computationally expressed in this perceptual reconstruction process? These questions, and other aspects of binocular depth perception are analysed from a theoretical and computational perspective, as well as through empirical investigations. In paper one, the fundamentals of stereopsis are briefly reviewed, and the difficulties related with resolving the (stereo) correspondence problem are particularly discussed. LÄS MER
2. Sensitivity and Uncertainty Analysis Methods : with Applications to a Road Traffic Emission Model
Sammanfattning : There is always a need to study the properties of complex input–output systems, properties that may be very difficult to determine. Two such properties are the output’s sensitivity to changes in the inputs and the output’s uncertainty if the inputs are uncertain. LÄS MER
3. Oxidative Dissolution of Spent Fuel and Release of Nuclides from a Copper/Iron Canister : Model Developments and Applications
Sammanfattning : Three models have been developed and applied in the performance assessment of a final repository. They are based on accepted theories and experimental results for known and possible mechanisms that may dominate in the oxidative dissolution of spent fuel and the release of nuclides from a canister. 4. Tactile Perception : Role of Friction and Texture
Sammanfattning : Tactile perception is considered an important contributor to the overall consumer experience of a product. However, what physical properties that create the specifics of tactile perception, are still not completely understood. LÄS MER
5. Blood protein coated model biomaterials : preparation, and cell and tissue response
Sammanfattning : Solid biomaterials are widely used in bone and in soft tissue applications. Problems may then arise due to a prolonged inflammation in the proximity of the implant, resulting in the formation of a fibrous capsule and a low vascularisation near the interface. LÄS MER
