  1. 21. Hemodynamic Effects of Lung Function Optimization in Experimental Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

    Författare :Arnoldo Santos; Anders Larsson; Fernando Suarez-Sipmann; John Marini; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Lung protective ventilation; Mechanical ventilation; Open lung approach; Pulmonary heart disease; Pulmonary vascular mechanics; Pulmonary vascular dysfunction; Pulse wave analysis; Right ventricular dysfunction; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care; Fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a severe pulmonary inflammation affecting thousands of patients every year in Sweden and has a mortality of 30-50%. Mechanical ventilation (MV) is usually necessary, but could per se augment the inflammation and contribute to mortality. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Lung mechanics in the aging lung and in acute lung injury. Studies based on sinusoidal flow modulation

    Författare :Ulrika Bitzén; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diagnostics; Diagnostik; acute lung injury; lung mechanics; acute respiratory distress syndrome; intensivvård; Anestesiologi; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Fysiologi; Physiology; flow regulation; method; lung resistance; compliance; aging;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about lung mechanics is of interest in intensive care to adjust mechanical ventilation and in the lung laboratory for diagnostics and evaluation of patients with various kinds of respiratory diseases. In mechanical ventilation a single inspiratory elastic pressure-volume (Pel/V) curve is difficult to interpret due to continuing re-expansion of collapsed lung units over a large pressure interval. 3. 23. Pathophysiological and Histomorphological Effects of One-Lung Ventilation in the Porcine Lung

    Författare :Alf Kozian; Göran Hedenstierna; Thomas Hachenberg; Filip Freden; Sten Walther; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alveolar Recruitment Manoeuvre; One-Lung Ventilation; Lung Protective Ventilation; Tidal Volume; Computed Tomography; Tidal Recruitment; Animal Model; Open Thoracic Surgery; Ventilation Perfusion Distribution; Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography; Diffuse Alveolar Damage; Medical laboratory science; Medicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Thoracic surgical procedures require partial or complete airway separation and the opportunity to exclude one lung from ventilation (one-lung ventilation, OLV). OLV is commonly associated with profound pathophysiological changes that may affect the postoperative outcome. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) in the Assessment of Respiratory Mechanics

    Författare :Gaetano Perchiazzi; Göran Hedenstierna; Björn Jonson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; artificial neural networks; respiratory system compliance; respiratory system resistance; respiratory system time constant; intrinsic positive end expiratory pressure; PEEPi; animal model; acute lung injury; oleic acid; Otis model; Fysiologi; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to test the capability of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to estimate respiratory mechanics during mechanical ventilation (MV). ANNs are universal function approximators and can extract information from complex signals. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Spirodynamics. New methods for continuous monitoring of respiratory mechanics in ventilator-treated patients

    Författare :Sigurbergur Kárason; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Monitoring; Respiratory mechanics; Mechanical ventilation; Compliance; Alveolar pressure; Dynostatic algorithm; ALI; ARDS; Model; Human.;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Ventilator treatment is often life-saving but has the inherent risk of causing damage to lung tissues. Overdistension and repetitive collapsing/opening of alveoli should be avoided. Monitoring of respiratory mechanics has a central role in accomplishing this. LÄS MER
