  1. 6. Trophic resource use and partitioning in multispecies ungulate communities

    Författare :Robert Spitzer; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decades, ungulates across the northern hemisphere have been expanding in range and numbers. This has raised concerns about their impacts, particularly on shared resources with humans, e.g., timber trees. LÄS MER

  2. 7. QoS Driven Coordinated Management of Resources to Save Energy in Multi-Core Systems

    Författare :Mehrzad Nejat; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Re-configurable Core Architecture; Dynamic Voltage-Frequency Scaling DVFS ; Energy Efficiency; Quality-of-Service QoS ; Resource Management; Cache Partitioning;

    Sammanfattning : Reducing the energy consumption of computing systems is a necessary endeavor. However, saving energy should not come at the expense of degrading user experience. To this end, in this thesis, we assume that applications running on multi-core processors are associated with a quality-of-service (QoS) target in terms of performance constraints. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Adaptive Microarchitectural Optimizations to Improve Performance and Security of Multi-Core Architectures

    Författare :Nadja Holtryd; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-Core Architectures; Bandwidth Partitioning; Prefetch Throttling; Cache Partitioning; Microarchitectural Optimizations; Side-channel Attacks;

    Sammanfattning : With the current technological barriers, microarchitectural optimizations are increasingly important to ensure performance scalability of computing systems. The shift to multi-core architectures increases the demands on the memory system, and amplifies the role of microarchitectural optimizations in performance improvement. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Functional and structural characterizations of phytoplankton-bacteria interactions in response to environmental challenges

    Författare :Eva Sörenson; Catherine Legrand; Elin Lindehoff; Jarone Pinhassi; Sonya Dyhrman; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Interactions; phytoplankton; microalgae; bacteria; communities; aquatic; diversity; functions; structure; species-specific; microbiome; core microbiome; response diversity; resilience; resource partitioning; competition; coexistence; amplicon sequencing; metatranscriptome; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Microorganisms, such as phytoplankton and bacteria, make up ≈70% of aquatic biomass and contribute 50-85% of the oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere. The microbial loop concept and the discovery of the large diversity in microbial communities acknowledge that biotic interactions between microorganisms in addition to resource competition enable the recycling of energy and nutrients in aquatic food webs. 5. 10. Benthic use of phytoplankton blooms: uptake, burial and biodiversity effects in a species-poor system

    Författare :Agnes M. L. Karlson; Ragnar Elmgren; Carlo Heip; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biodiversity; ecosystem functioning; benthic-pelagic coupling; niche; resource partitioning; competition; eutrophication; cyanobacterial blooms; diatoms; invasive species; Baltic Sea; Marine ecology; Marin ekologi; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Animals living in marine sediments (the second largest habitat on earth) play a major role in global biogeochemical cycling. By feeding on organic matter from settled phytoplankton blooms they produce food for higher trophic levels and nutrients that can fuel primary production. LÄS MER
