  1. 11. Downlink Resource Allocation in Cooperative Wireless Networks

    Författare :Jingya Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; precoding design; load balancing; relaying; imperfect channel state information; imperfect synchronization; Coordinated multi-point transmission; I Q imbalance; resource allocation; fractional frequency reuse;

    Sammanfattning : Wireless cooperative networks, which is based on exploiting coordination among multiple access nodes, has been considered as a promising approach to improve the spectral efficiency, reduce the energy consumption, and extend the network coverage of future wireless communication systems. In practice, the actual benefit of multi-node cooperation is affected by a variety of factors, including the quality of channel state information (CSI), the constraints on the feedback and backhaul links, hardware impairments, resource allocation and data processing schemes. 2. 12. Essays on environmental and development economics : Public policy, resource prices and global warming

    Författare :Linda Sahlén; Thomas Aronsson; Kenneth Backlund; Ing-Marie Gren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Climate policy; technology transfer; computable general equilibrium model; environmental fiscal reform; revenue recycling; water scarcity; resource prices; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four self-contained papers, which are all related to important environmental and natural resource issues from a developing country perspective.Paper [I] concerns climate policy and addresses the potential welfare gains of introducing a technology transfer from the North (richer countries) to the South (poorer countries). 3. 13. Resource Allocation in Downlink Coordinated Multi-Point Systems

    Författare :Jingya Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; backhaul latency; Coordinated multi-point CoMP transmission; imperfect synchronization; fractional frequency reuse; resource allocation; general duality theory; imperfect channel state information; inter-cluster interference coordination;

    Sammanfattning : The raised user expectations of quality of service and the rapid growth of the data traffics impose a great challenge for mobile communication systems. The performance, e.g., the spectrum efficiency, peak data rate, cell-edge data rate, of current cellular systems ismainly limited due to the presence of inter-cell interference. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Resource Management in Computing Systems

    Författare :Payam Amani; Bredbandskommunikation; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Resource management is an essential building block of any modern computer and communication network. In this thesis, the results of our research in the following two tracks are summarized in four papers. The first track includes three papers and covers modeling, prediction and control for multi-tier computing systems. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Natural resources and sustainable energy : Growth rates and resource flows for low-carbon systems

    Författare :Simon Davidsson; Mikael Höök; Gert Jan Kramer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; low-carbon technology; renewable energy; energy transitions; critical materials; energy metals; material flows; net energy; EROI; life cycle assessment; LCA; growth curves; curve fitting; resource depletion; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : Large-scale deployment of low-carbon energy technologies is important for counteracting anthropogenic climate change and achieving universal energy access. This thesis explores potential growth rates of technologies necessary to reach a more sustainable global energy system, the material and energy flows required to commission these technologies, and potential future availability of the required resources.
