  1. 1. A Salutogenic perspective on resistance training : a study on healthy old adult women

    Författare :Helena Ericson; Mikael Quennerstedt; Monica Eriksson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Health resources; exercise; resistance traning; salutogenes; old adult women; healthy aging; hope; negative affect; psychological outcomes; Sports Science; Idrottsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The number of people aged 60 years and over has doubled since 1980and the World Health Organization predicts that the population of over60s will reach 2 billion by the year 2050. An ageing population poses bothchallenges and opportunities for society and for individuals. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Exercise in patients with cancer : Effects on health-related quality of life, costs, and cost-effectiveness during oncological treatment

    Författare :Anna-Karin Ax; Sussanne Börjeson; Birgitta Johansson; Karin Nordin; Yvonne Wengström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Exercise; Health-Related Quality of Life; Cost-Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Short and long-term side effects of oncological treatment negatively affect daily living and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patient with cancer. Exercise during treatment is beneficial for HRQoL, however evidence as to what exercise intensity is most optimal for improving HRQoL and cost-effectiveness is lacking. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Acute and early chronic responses to resistance exercise using flywheel or weights

    Författare :Lena Norrbrand; Per Tesch; Ola Eiken; Per Aagaard; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; electromyography; flywheel; magnetic resonance imaging; resistance exercise; Sports; Idrott;

    Sammanfattning : Resistance exercise using weights typically offers constant external load during coupled shortening (concentric) and lengthening (eccentric) muscle actions in sets of consecutive repetitions until failure. However, the constant external load and the inherent capability of skeletal muscle to produce greater force in the eccentric compared with the concentric action, would infer that most actions are executed with incomplete motor unit involvement. 4. 4. Muscle strength and resistance exercise in women with fibromyalgia-a person-centred approach

    Författare :Anette Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical Therapy; Fibromyalgia; Muscle Strength; Resistance Exercise; Person-centred care; ;

    Sammanfattning : Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by generalized pain and associated with impaired physical capacity and activity limitations. Low-intensity exercise has been shown to be a safe way to exercise without risking an increase in diseasespecific symptoms. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Biomechanical and neural aspects of eccentric and concentric muscle performance in stroke subjects : Implications for resistance training

    Författare :Mattias Hedlund; Britta Lindström; Peter Sojka; Ronnie Lundström; Carl-Johan Olsson; Jan Lexell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fMRI; Isokinetic; Motor imagery; Muscular strength; Resistance training; Neurological rehabilitation;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle weakness is one of the major causes of post-stroke disability. Stroke rehabilitation programs now often incorporate the same type of resistance training that is used for healthy subjects; however, the training effects induced from these training strategies are often limited for stroke patients.
