  1. 6. Church, State and People in Mozambique : An Historical Study with Special Emphasis on Methodist Developments in the Inhambane Region

    Författare :Alf Helgesson; Carl F. Hallencreutz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Inhambane; Mozambique; Protestant Mission; Catholicism; Methodist Episcopal Mission; Migrant labour; Forced labour; Resistance; Portugalization; Africanization; Liberation; FRELIMO; Missionary studies; Missionsvetenskap; Missionsvetenskap; Studies of Missions;

    Sammanfattning : King Ngungunyana was the lord of the mighty Gaza Empire, covering most of the interior Mozambique south of the Zambezi and parts of present Zimbabwe, when the Portuguese in 1885 were requested by the Berlin Congress to accelerate their colonization. The small enclaves around certain port towns were no longer sufficient, in order to claim the territory as one's colony. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The faecal flora : a source of healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistance

    Författare :Annika Samuelsson; Håkan Hanberger; Barbro Isaksson; Jon Jonasson; Bo Söderquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are important causes of mortality and morbidity, and antibiotic treatment is often necessary. Development and availability of new antibiotics are closely followed by development of resistance among microorganisms. During antibiotic therapy, a fraction of the antibiotic given is found in the gut. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Trophic, Indirect, and Evolutionary Interactions in a Plant–Herbivore–Parasitoid System

    Författare :Johan Stenberg; Lars Ericson; John Parker; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant resistance; coevolution; herbivory; Skeppsvik; food web; parasitism; maternal effect; natural selection; Filipendula ulmaria; Chrysomelidae; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis project was to elucidate patterns and processes associated with the biotic interactions in a natural plant–herbivore–parasitoid food web characterized by spatial and temporal heterogeneity with regard to species composition. The system examined is based on island populations of the perennial herb Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria, Rosaceae), located in the Skeppsvik Archipelago. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Magnetron Sputtering of Nanocomposite Carbide Coatings for Electrical Contacts

    Författare :Kristian Nygren; Ulf Jansson; Peter Leisner; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Today’s electronic society relies on the functionality of electrical contacts. To achieve good contact properties, surface coatings are normally applied. Such coatings should ideally fulfill a combination of different properties, like high electrical conductivity, high corrosion resistance, high wear resistance and low cost. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Role of Neutrophils and Innate Immune Mechanisms in Urinary Tract Infections

    Författare :Björn Frendéus; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
