  1. 11. Gender, Technology and Knowledge

    Författare :Sara Goodman; Genusvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social Studies of Science and Technolgy STS ; Sweden; Gender; sociology; computerization; globalization; gender and work; gender division of labor; midwifery; midwives; India; reproductive technology; globalisation;

    Sammanfattning : During the last 15 years questions concerning gender, technology and knowledge, have become increasingly recognized as central to the field of the sociology of technology. Nonetheless, critical questions remain unanswered. These issues are addressed here through investigations of the relationship between gender, work, knowledge and technology. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Through the eyes of a woodpecker: Understanding habitat selection, territory quality and reproductive decisions from individual behaviour

    Författare :Ola Olsson; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; reproductive success; territory quality; habitat selection; giving-up density; Bayesian processes; foraging; Picidae; lesser spotted woodpecker; Dendrocopos minor; conservation; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I present some connections between foraging behaviour and reproductive success, time budget, tree species use, and habitat selection. The thesis is based upon both theoretical and empirical work. All empirical studies concern a south Swedish population of lesser spotted woodpeckers Dendrocopos minor, studied between 1990 and 1996. 3. 13. On the Evolution of Reproductive Systems in Neurospora

    Författare :Rebecka Strandberg; Hanna Johannesson; Paul Dyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Neurospora; mating type; pheromone receptor; phylogeny; gene expression; heterothallism; homothallism; pseudohomothallism; alternative splicing; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study the evolution of reproductive systems and reproductive traits in the fungal genus Neurospora. More specifically, I have investigated the evolutionary forces shaping the genes involved in sexual reproduction, focusing on mating-type (mat) and pheromone receptor (pre) genes. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Male Subfertility and Prostate Cancer Risk: Epidemiological and Genetic Studies

    Författare :Yasir Ruhayel; Malmö Molekylärgenetisk reproduktionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytoplasmic and nuclear; Receptors; Prostatic neoplasms; genetic; Polymorphism; male; Infertility; Hypogonadism; Genetic association studies; Case–control studies; Androgens;

    Sammanfattning : Androgen action plays a pivotal role in male reproductive tract physiology and pathology. The androgen receptor (AR) gene harbors two codon repeat tracts: the CAG and GGN repeats, encoding corresponding amino acid sequences of variable length; the polyglutamine and polyglycine stretches, respectively. 5. 15. Effects of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals on Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells In Vitro

    Författare :Malin Helmestam; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Yvonne Lundberg Giwercman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endocrine disrupting chemicals; hormones; human endometrial endothelial cells; endometrium; estrogen; progesterone; cadmium; tamoxifen; mifepristone; bisphenol A; angiogenesis; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Evidence from an abundant number of studies suggests that human female reproductive functions have become impaired over the past half century and that there might be a relationship between endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and reduced fertility. It is, however, not known by what mechanisms EDCs affect different reproductive functions such as endometrial receptivity, embryo implantation and placentation. LÄS MER
