  1. 11. Venous thromboembolism and mechanisms during assisted reproductive technology

    Författare :Nina Olausson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is increasingly used worldwide to treat infertility and assist couples and single mothers with their conception. The most common ART procedure includes treatment with exogenous hormones to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple oocytes, followed by an in vitro fertilisation (IVF) achieved by letting oocyte and sperm combine in vitro or by direct intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) into the oocyte. 2. 12. Reproductive allocation and costs of reproduction in subarctic herbs : A resource-based perspective

    Författare :Åsa M. Hemborg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Altitudinal gradient; Plant size; Predispersal seed predation; Reproductive effort; Resourcedynamics; Seasonal variation; Sexual dimorphism; Somatic costs; Unisexual plants; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The influence of internal and external factors on two major plant life history components, i.e., reproductive allocation and costs of reproduction, was examined for nine perennial herbs in subarctic Swedish Lapland. In one study, comparisons were made between Sweden and the French Alps. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Lifestyle and Reproductive Health among Women prior to Conception

    Författare :Lana Salih Joelsson; Alkistis Skalkidou; Tanja Tydén; Anna Berglund; Kjell Wånggren; Staffan Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lifestyle; pregnancy; infertility; in vitro fertilization; smoking; obesity; alcohol; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Health and lifestyle is of great importance when women intend to become pregnant, as well as during pregnancy. It is crucial that people seeking for infertility are aware of which lifestyle changes they can undertake to enhance the likelihood of treatment success. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Good Parents, Better Babies : An Argument about Reproductive Technologies, Enhancement and Ethics

    Författare :Erik Malmqvist; Fredrik Svenaeus; Stellan Welin; Eric Juengst; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Aristotelian practical philosophy; bioethics; hermeneutical ethics; human enhancement; instrumentalisation; moral intuitions; non-consequentialism; parenting; philosophy of medicine; practical wisdom; reproductive technologies; Aristotelisk praktisk filosofi; bioetik; förbättringar; föräldraskap; hermeneutisk etik; icke-konsekventialism; instrumentalisering; medicinens filosofi; moraliska intuitioner; praktisk vishet; provrörsbefruktning; Ethics; Etik;

    Sammanfattning : This study is a contribution to the bioethical debate about new and possibly emerging reproductive technologies. Its point of departure is the intuition, which many people seem to share, that using such technologies to select non-disease traits – like sex and emotional stability - in yet unborn children is morally problematic, at least more so than using the technologies to avoid giving birth to children with severe genetic diseases, or attempting to shape the non-disease traits of already existing children by environmental means, like education. 5. 15. The Xenopus tropicalis model for developmental endocrine and reproductive toxicity : Histological and molecular endpoints for disrupted spermatogenesis

    Författare :Sofie Svanholm; Cecilia Berg; Oskar Karlsson; Valérie Langlois; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disrupting chemicals; Reproductive toxicology; Developmental toxicology; Spermatogenesis; Transgenerational; Xenopus tropicalis; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology; Biologi med inriktning mot miljötoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are linked to adverse effects in both humans and wildlife. There are however, large knowledge gaps regarding cause-effect and dose-response relationships between the interference with endocrine pathways and adverse effects in the organism, especially at puberty and in subsequent generations.
