  1. 1. Long-term outcome of children born after Assisted Reproductive Technology

    Författare :Emma Norrman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Assisted reproductive technology; IVF; long-term outcome; children;

    Sammanfattning : Background: While the short-term outcome after assisted reproductive technology (ART) is broadly examined, studies on the long-term outcome of ART children are limited. Aim: To examine the long-term outcome in children born after ART and study whether different ART techniques affect the outcome in the children differently. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gender, Technology and Knowledge

    Författare :Sara Goodman; Genusvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social Studies of Science and Technolgy STS ; Sweden; Gender; sociology; computerization; globalization; gender and work; gender division of labor; midwifery; midwives; India; reproductive technology; globalisation;

    Sammanfattning : During the last 15 years questions concerning gender, technology and knowledge, have become increasingly recognized as central to the field of the sociology of technology. Nonetheless, critical questions remain unanswered. These issues are addressed here through investigations of the relationship between gender, work, knowledge and technology. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ovarian Reserve and Assisted Reproduction

    Författare :Thomas Brodin; Jan Holte; Matts Olovsson; Lars Berglund; Juha Tapanainen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AFC; AMH; anti-Müllerian hormone; antral follicle count; follicle-stimulating hormone; FSH; ICSI; infertility; intracytoplasmic sperm injection; in vitro fertilization; IVF; LH; live birth; luteinizing hormone; menstrual cycle; menstrual cycle length; ovarian reserve; pregnancy; reproductive endocrinology; reproductive technology; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment success in IVF-ICSI is mainly limited by female age, but differences in ovarian reserve (OR; the remaining pool of oocytes and their quality) between individuals modify treatment prerequisites among women of similar age. OR may be assessed by OR tests (ORTs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genomic and transcriptomic investigation of reproductive incompatibility in Drosophila

    Författare :Guilherme Costa Baião; Lisa Klasson; Alistair Darby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wolbachia; Drosophila; Drosophila paulistorum; Differential Gene Expression; Reproductive Incompatibility; Reproductive Isolation; Comparative Genomics; Transcriptomics; RNA-Seq; Heteroplasmy; Mitochondria; Genomic conflict; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Both nuclear and cytoplasmic elements can contribute to the emergence of reproductive incompatibilities that influence evolution and speciation. In the projects that compose this thesis, we use genomics and transcriptomics to study some of those elements in Drosophila. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Acupuncture in reproductive medicine. Applications in human assisted reproduction and aspects of clinical and experimental neuroendocrinology

    Författare :Elisabet Stener-Victorin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; electro-acupuncture; blood flow impedance; circulation; uterine artery; in-vitro fertilization; oocyte aspiration; polycystic ovary syndrome; experimentally induced PCO; anovulation; gonadotropins; steroids; neuropeptides; b-endorphin; nerve growth factor; corticotropin-releasing factor.;

    Sammanfattning : The use of acupuncture in the area of reproductive medicine is relatively new, and it has been rather poorly investigated in the past. When muscle afferents are stimulated by acupuncture in somatic segments related to the innervation of the ovaries and the uterus, functional changes occur in the neural substrate that may influence reproductive function and result in peripheral, segmental and central effects.
