  1. 1. Pulmonary Injury Following Intestinal Ischemia and Reperfusion in Rats

    Författare :Anna Börjesson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reperfusion injury; intestinal ischemia; pulmonary injury; endothelium; cytokines; alveolar fluid clearance; leukocytes; orthopaedics; Surgery; traumatology; ortopedi; Kirurgi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Intestinal ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) is a potentially life-threatening condition, sometimes leading to a systemic inflammatory response and the potential development of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The overall aim of the thesis was to study the effects of intestinal I/R on pulmonary function with special emphasis on removal of excess alveolar fluid, pulmonary endothelial barrier permeability, leukocyte accumulation and function, and possible therapeutic strategies to prevent the development of pulmonary injury following intestinal I/R. 2. 2. Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury

    Författare :Melroy Alistair D'Souza; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a complex phenomenon occuring in response to interruption of the liver’s blood and oxygen supply and the subsequent restoration of blood flow and tissue oxygenation. Techniques to reduce blood loss and other intra-operative manoeuvers during liver resection can cause hepatic I/R injury. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Diabetes : Experimental Studies in the Rat

    Författare :Jan Melin; Bengt Rippe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; diabetes mellitus; ischemia reperfusion; rat; end-stage renal disease; inflammation; fibrosis; hyaluronan; CD44; treatment; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the leading causes of end stage renal failure. An increased susceptibility to renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-injury was found in DM rats. Unilateral renal ischemia for as short as 20 minutes led to an irreversible progressive injury in DM kidneys, whereas the injury in non-DM kidneys was almost reversible. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury, clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Karin Åström-Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; myocardium; ischemia; reperfusion injury; FKBP12; FKBP12.6;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myocardial infarction is the consequence of an occluded nutrient coronary artery. Reperfusion reduces infarct size and enhances the rate of survival. But reperfusion may also, in itself, cause reversible injury, stunning and arrhythmias, as well as irreversible lethal reperfusion injury. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pharmacological interventions against myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury

    Författare :Lars O Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Myocardial reperfusion injury; opioids; cyclosporine A;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Ischaemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in the industrialised world. Although the concept of early restoration of coronary blood-flow constitutes an important factor to reduce the injury caused by myocardial ischaemia, reperfusion in itself can aggravate the damage to myocardial tissue, a phenomenon denoted myocardial reperfusion injury.
