  1. 16. Long-term follow-up of adult women with urinary tract infection in childhood

    Författare :Carin Gebäck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ambulatory blood pressure; blood pressure; chronic kidney disease; DMSA scan; glomerular filtration rate; hypertension; pregnancy; renal damage; renal function; urinary tract infection; vesicoureteral reflux;

    Sammanfattning : Acute pyelonephritis is common in young children and can lead to permanent renal damage. Renal damage increases the risk of complications such as hypertension and decreased renal function later in life. For women with renal damage there is also an increased risk of pregnancy complications. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Invasive treatment of renal artery stenosis - effects on blood pressure, medication, renal function and inflammatory biomarkers

    Författare :Alaa Al Hadad; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; inflammatory biomarkers; renal artery stenosis; Renovascular hypertension; percutaneous transluminal renal angioplasty; mean pressure gradient;

    Sammanfattning : Renal artery stenosis (RAS) causes hypertension, decreased glomerular filteration rate (GFR), and renal ischemia. RAS is progressive and causes 5-16% of all cases of renal failure. Prevalence of RAS in patients with hypertension is 1-5%. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Children with symptomatic urinary tract infection in Göteborg 1970-79 followed for two decades

    Författare :Martin Wennerström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary tract infection; vesicoureteral reflux; renal scarring; children; adults; renal function; hypertension; ambulatory blood pressure; atrial natriuretic peptide;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To study a populationbased cohort of subjects, detected after their first known urinary tract infection (UTI) with special focus on: the natural course of vesicoureteral reflux; the prevalence of renal scarring, age at detection and factors of importance for its development; the long term risk of impaired renal function and hypertension. Methods: Analyses of data, prospectively registered during childhood, and an adulthood follow-up investigation evaluating renal function by 51Cr-EDTA clearance and blood pressure by 24-hour ambulatory technique. 4. 19. The Role of Angiotensin II in Experimental Acute Kidney Injury and Cardiorenal Failure

    Författare :Sofia Jönsson; Michael Hultström; Helle Prætorius Øhrwald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Heart failure; Acute kidney injury; Angiotensin II; Fluid balance; Cardiac function; Renal function;

    Sammanfattning : Blood pressure and fluid regulation are kept constant through the interaction between heart and kidneys. When the systemic blood pressure decreases, the levels of the hormone Angiotensin II increase, leading to vasoconstriction and therefore increased blood pressure. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Tailoring Radionuclide Therapy of Neuroendocrine Tumors - Bridging the Gaps

    Författare :Anna Sundlöv; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 177Lu-DOTATATE; PRRT; somatostatin analogs; pituitary function; renal function; dosimetry; 68Ga-DOTATATE; individualized treatment; neuroendocrine tumors;

    Sammanfattning : Background and Aims: Radionuclide therapy is systemic, targeted radiotherapy. As such, we can apply the basic principles of radiobiology used in everyday practice in radiation oncology, as a means of tailoring the treatment to each patient and optimizing the balance between efficacy and toxicity.
