Sammanfattning : Essay 1: (with Mikael Elinder) Since the sinking of the Titanic, there has been a widespread belief that the social norm of “women and children first” (WCF) gives women a survival advantage over men in maritime disasters, and that captains and crew members give priority to passengers. We analyze a database of 18 maritime disasters spanning three centuries, covering the fate of over 15,000 individuals of more than 30 nationalities. LÄS MER

14. Individual Preferences, Choices, and Risk Perceptions - survey based evidence
Sammanfattning : Paper 1 investigates how birth order and having siblings affect positional concerns in terms of success at work and of income. We find that only-children are the most positional, but that number of siblings increases the concern for their position among those who grew up together with siblings. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : In the past decades, the contributions of individuals have come into greater focus on all levels of employment in many types of organizations. For example, this is manifested through an increased use of individual performance-based pay setting, where individual evaluations of employees’ contributions lead to diversified pay raises among peers.
