1. Improved high velocity cold copaction processing : polymer powder to high performance parts
Sammanfattning : A uniaxial High-Velocity Compaction (HVC) process for polymer powder using a cylindrical, hardened steel die and a new technique with relaxation assist was tested with a focus on the compactibility characteristics and surface morphology of the compacted materials using various heights of relaxation assist device with different compacting profiles. Relaxation assist device was presented as a new technique to reduce springback, pull-out phenomenon and to improve the compaction process. LÄS MER
2. Transition metal and alloy catalysts in the light of computational materials modelling
Sammanfattning : This thesis is built around two pillars. One is heterogeneous catalysis in the broader context of green chemistry. The focus here is on identifying catalytically active materials suitable for the valorization of renewable feedstocks. LÄS MER
3. Surface Composition and Microstructure Control during Pressureless Forming and Sintering of Ferrous Powder Metallurgy Materials
Sammanfattning : This study addresses key issues related to different stages of ferrous PM materials processing. Several analytical tools are applied in the study of surface composition and microstructure control in the processing of ferrous powder including forming, degassing and sintering stages. LÄS MER
4. Reducing Radon Gas Emissions in Concrete
Sammanfattning : Several compulsory regulations and recommendations regarding ionising radiation for building products have been introduced in recent years. Furthermore, industry-affiliated aggregate and concrete companies strive to implement environmental goals that should be fulfilled regarding building materials. LÄS MER
5. Combining X-ray and 3D scanning of logs
Sammanfattning : In Scandinavia, sawlogs are typically sorted upon arrival at the sawmill. Presorting of sawlogs according to dimension, e.g., using an optical three-dimensional (3D) scanner, is used to make the sawing process more efficient. LÄS MER
