Sammanfattning : We propose a new mathematical model for relative collision safety in cars. Our present research is restricted to head-on crashes between two cars and we try to determine how much of the injury risk in a crash that depends on car model. The relative risks include the driver populations of the different car models. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Preventive safety systems rely on accurate information from a sensing system regarding the current traffic situation to make decision whether to inform, warn or intervene to avoid an impeding collision or to mitigate its consequences. This thesis mainly considers tracking algorithms to enhance these systems through making the best use of the information supplied by on-vehicle sensors, such as radar and vision sensors. LÄS MER
3. Surrogate Measures of Safety with a Focus on Vulnerable Road Users : An exploration of theory, practice, exposure, and validity
Sammanfattning : Surrogate measures of safety (SMoS) are meant to function as tools to investigate traffic safety. The term surrogate indicates that these measures do not rely on crash data; instead, they focus on identifying safety critical events (or near-crashes) in traffic, which can be used as an alternative to crash records. Sammanfattning : Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) enable actors in the transport systems to interact and collaborate by exchanging information via wireless communication networks. There are several challenges to overcome before they can be implemented and deployed on public roads. LÄS MER
5. Neck injuries in rear impacts : Dummy neck development, dummy evaluation and test condition specifications
Sammanfattning : The objective of the work underlying this thesis was firstly to develop a neck for a new rear impact dummy, to evaluate the complete dummy and to specify test conditions for a consumer test with attention to AIS 1 neck injuries in rear impacts. In the development of the dummy neck, a mathematical neck model was developed and evaluated. LÄS MER
