11. Living and dying with prostate cancer : Population-based register studies
Sammanfattning : Tailored treatment with adequate timing is essential for the quality of prostate cancer care at all stages. Overtreatment should be avoided due to the side effects, but undertreatment may on the other hand lead to progression and death. LÄS MER
12. Lone parenting, socioeconomic conditions and severe ill-health : longitudinal register-based studies
Sammanfattning : The general aims of this dissertation are to analyse how family situation, and especially lone parenting, influence health and life chances in Sweden and the extent to which possible relations are influenced by socioeconomic circumstances and health selection. In two population-based cohort studies we analysed overall and cause-specific mortality (1991-95), and also severe morbidity (1991-94) from different causes among lone mothers in comparison with mothers with partners. 13. Constraint-Based Register Allocation and Instruction Scheduling
Sammanfattning : Register allocation (mapping variables to processor registers or memory) and instruction scheduling (reordering instructions to improve latency or throughput) are central compiler problems. This dissertation proposes a combinatorial optimization approach to these problems that delivers optimal solutions according to a model, captures trade-offs between conflicting decisions, accommodates processor-specific features, and handles different optimization criteria. 15. Semiparametric survival models for routine register data
Sammanfattning : Routine registers offer researchers opportunities to carry out studies of covariate effects on lifetimes of rare diseases otherwise infeasible because of the large cohorts required. Familial relationships necessary for analysis of environmental or genetic factors can be identified by record linking. LÄS MER
