2. Species extinctions in food webs : local and regional processes
Sammanfattning : Loss of biodiversity is one of the most severe threats to the ecosystems of the world. The major causes behind the high population and species extinction rates are anthropogenic activities such as overharvesting of natural populations, pollution, climate change and destruction and fragmentation of natural habitats. 3. Price sensitivity and regional variation in health care
Sammanfattning : Understanding the consequences of current health policy is important in order to design and develop a health care system suitable for future challenges. The purpose of this thesis is to bring evidence on the determinants of regional variation in health care and on individuals’ responsiveness to patient out-of-pocket prices in Sweden. LÄS MER
4. Impacts of Regional Climate Change on Swedish Forests: An Evaluation Using Process-based Regional Ecosystem Modelling Approach
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to provide a representative estimate of the potential impacts of climate change and increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations on Swedish forest ecosystems and the key ecosystem services they provide. In order to achieve this task, fi rst LPJ-GUESS, a process-based regional ecosystem modelling framework, was applied to explore how possible shifts in climatic zones according to a range of regional climate scenarios may lead to changes in the tree species distribution and composition, net primary productivity (NPP) and carbon sequestration capacity of potential natural ecosystems on species level and at the regional scale. 5. Interregional Migration, Wages and Labor Market Policy : Essays on the Swedish Model in the Postwar Period
Sammanfattning : The Swedish model is perceived as a successful framework for combining rapid labor market adjustment with low inequality. Formulated by Gösta Rehn and Rudolf Meidner and implemented from the 1950s, it has been associated with the peak in economic restructuring and interregional migration during the 1960s. LÄS MER
