11. A Changing Arctic Climate : Science and Policy in the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment
Sammanfattning : Climate change has often been framed as a global issue but slow progress in the global climate negotiations and an increasing need to plan for local adaptation have made it increasingly salient to also discuss the potential of other arenas for climate policy and knowledge production. This dissertation analyzes the interplay between science and policy at the international regional level based on a study of an assessment of the impacts of climate change in the Arctic. LÄS MER
12. The palaeolimnological record of regime shifts in lakes in response to climate change
Sammanfattning : Regime shifts in lake ecosystems can occur in response to both abrupt and continuous climate change, and the imprints they leave in palaeolimnological records allow us to investigate and better understand patterns and processes governing ecological changes on geological time scales. This thesis aims at investigating palaeolimnological records of regime shifts in lakes during the Holocene to explore how lake ecosystems responded to climate changes and anthropogenic activities and to identify thresholds or tipping points that produced regime shifts. 13. Migration Statecraft : The European Migration and Development Regime
Sammanfattning : For decades the European Union has cooperated with partner countries on the nexus between migration and development. The EU has thereby attempted to merge parts of migration policy and development policy into one framework. LÄS MER
14. Dynamics of a Risk Regulation Regime : the Case of Head Injuries in Swedish Ice Hockey
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the risk regulation regime related to head injuries in Swedish ice hockey, primarily by utilizing a corpus linguistic methodology. More specifically, three empirical studies were conducted. LÄS MER
15. Spin dynamics in the terahertz regime
Sammanfattning : It is known that the use of conventional optical lasers for the study of ultrafast magnetization dynamics imparts heat to the materials under study, which creates a highly non equilibrium state and masks the fundamental coupling processes leading to ultrafast demagnetization. In order to understand, control and manipulate the dynamics of spins in magnetic systems a new kind of radiation called terahertz (THz) is starting to be used in recent years. LÄS MER
