  1. 1. Regime Stability and Foreign Policy Change : Interaction between Domestic and Foreign Policy in Hungary 1956-1994

    Författare :Tomas Niklasson; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; WTO; comecon; CMEA; gorbachev; antall; kádár; ethnic minorities; hungarian politics; hungary; political opposition; authoritarian regime; reference society; two-level game; stabilisers; foreign policy change; foreign debt; economic reform; democratisation; coercion; legitimacy; regime stability; political stability; warsaw pact; CSCE; OSCE; EU enlargement; NATO enlargement; Political and administrative sciences; Statsvetenskap; förvaltningskunskap;

    Sammanfattning : Domestic and foreign policy cannot always be kept apart. A change of Government at national level may impact on foreign policy, and foreign policy adventures sometimes translate into consequences at home. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Osteoarthritis of the Hip and Uncemented Total Hip Arthroplasty : Effects of Immediate Weight Bearing on Implant Stability, Bone Mineral Density, and Body Composition

    Författare :Olof Wolf; Hans Mallmin; Sune Larsson; Jan Milbrink; Per Mattsson; Per Adolphson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis of the hip; uncemented; total hip arthroplasty; stability; RSA; BMD; DXA; body composition; weight bearing; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : The initial recommendation for the postoperative regime after uncemented total hip arthroplasty (THA) was 6-12 weeks of partial weight bearing (PWB) to obtain a stable implant position during bone ingrowth. In recent years patients with uncemented THA have increasingly practiced full weight bearing (FWB) after surgery, which has largely been based on clinical experience rather than on scientific evidence. 3. 3. Essays on Exchange Rates and Macroeconomic Stability

    Författare :Anders Bergvall; Philip Lane; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Exchange rates; Monetary policy; Macroeconomic stability; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi; nationalekonomi; Economics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three self-contained essays.Essay 1 investigates the relevance of the exchange rate regime for macroeconomic stability. I simulate hypothetical macroeconomic developments under different hypothetical regimes in Sweden during the period 1974-1994. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stability and transition on wind turbine blades

    Författare :Thales Coelho Leite Fava; Ardeshir Hanifi; Dan Henningson; Stefania Cherubini; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Boundary layer stability; free-stream turbulence; laminar-turbulent transition; low-frequency oscillations; rotation effects; wind turbine blades.; Gränsskiktsstabilitet; friströmsturbulens; laminär-turbulent omslag; lågfrekventa svängningar; rotationseffekter; vindkraftverksblad.; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Transition on wind turbine blades is a highly complex phenomenon due to the myriad effects influencing the process. This thesis studies some of them, namely free-stream turbulence (FST), rotation, and three-dimensionality. The investigations employ large eddy simulations (LES) with and without (implicit or wall-resolved LES) a subgrid-scale model. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Numerical studies of transtion in wall-bounded flows

    Författare :Ori Levin; Dan Henningson; Nikolaus Adams; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary layer; suction; wall jet; streaks; waves; periodic disturbance; localized disturbance; turbulent spot; algebraic growth; exponential growth; stability; transition thresholds; transition prediction; PSE; DNS; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Disturbances introduced in wall-bounded flows can grow and lead to transition from laminar to turbulent flow. In order to reduce losses or enhance mixing in energy systems, a fundamental understanding of the flow stability and transition mechanism is important. LÄS MER
