16. Strong light-matter interaction and its consequences on molecular photophysics
Sammanfattning : Strong light-matter interaction offers the possibility to modify chemical and physical properties of molecules by modifying their photonic environment, resulting in the creation of hybrid light-matter states, known as polaritons. The field of polaritonic chemistry using microfluidic cavities is in its infancy, and developing methods to increase the coupling strength are necessary to maximise the effects of polaritonic states. 17. Collective properties of magnetic mesospins
Sammanfattning : Mesoscopic spin systems consist of an ensemble of lithographically patterned nanomagnetic elements - mesospins. The interactions between the mesospins, can be designed at will by altering their lateral arrangement, enabling the study of collective magnetic order in a wide range of systems. LÄS MER
18. Why Work? : Comparative Studies on Welfare Regimes and Individuals' Work Orientations
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis is to examine how different welfare and production regimes may have structured individuals’ work orientations into cross-national patterns by the late 1990s and early 2000s. Three different aspects of work orientations are considered in the three studies. LÄS MER
19. Electron transport, interaction and spin in graphene and graphene nanoribbons
Sammanfattning : Since the isolation of graphene in 2004, this novel material has become the major object of modern condensed matter physics. Despite of enormous research activity in this field, there are still a number of fundamental phenomena that remain unexplained and challenge researchers for further investigations. LÄS MER
20. Multiple forces drive the Baltic Sea food web dynamics and its response to environmental change
Sammanfattning : Understanding the interaction of multiple drivers and their compounded effects on ecosystem dynamics is a key challenge for marine resource management. The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s seas most strongly impacted by effects from both human activities and climate. LÄS MER
