  1. 1. Empty Names and Reference

    Författare :Anna Bjurman; Teoretisk filosofi; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; disquotational reference; pretense; possible individuals; fictional world; intensional fictional operator; rigidity; empty names; reference; Philosophical logic; Teoretisk filosofi; logik;

    Sammanfattning : The problem of empty names derives from the fact that empty names fail to refer. The reference failure of empty names implies that sentences containing empty names lack truth-conditions. As a consequence those sentences are meaningless, according to many theories of meaning. 2. 2. The dynamics of red blood cells and iron status during infancy

    Författare :Marie Larsson; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Barnreferensintervall; Röda blodkroppar; Erytrocyter; Extremt för tidig födsel; Erytropoes; Klinisk kemi; Järnstatus; Ferritin; sTfR; Neonatologi; Pediatrik; Fetal tillväxthämning; Referensintervall; Pediatric reference intervals; Reference limits; Extremely preterm birth; Fetal growth restriction; Clinical chemistry; Iron status; Red blood cells; Erythrocyte; Transfusion; Ferritin; sTfR; Hemoglobin; Neonatal; Reference intervals; Umbilical cord blood; Infancy; Iron deficiency; Anemia; Acute phase response; soluble Transferrin receptor; Neonatal intensive care; Erythropoiesis; Birth; Infant;

    Sammanfattning : Red blood cell (RBC) and iron status biomarkers are commonly used in clinical diagnostics. However, interpretations of infant test results are inherently challenging. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A paleolimnological perspective on liming – implications for defining reference conditions in Swedish lakes

    Författare :Matilda Norberg; Ingemar Renberg; Helen Bennion; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Acidification; Liming; European Water Framework Directive; Reference condition; Diatoms; Paleolimnology; Monitoring; Lake sediments; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Earth Sciences with Specialization Environmental Analysis; geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Using paleolimnological techniques, I have studied surface-water acidification and the effects of liming in Swedish lakes on a decadal to millennial time-scale. The overall objective was to contribute to the discussion on the fulfilment of goals within the Swedish liming program. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Efficient hull design for ice conditions in inland waterways

    Författare :Meng Zhang; Karl Garme; Magnus Burman; Pentti Kujala; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inland waterway ship; ice conditions; ice properties; ice-hull interaction; ice resistance; impact load; numerical method; operation time window; lightweight design; composites and sandwich structure; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing interest in utilizing the inland waterways (IWW) in European countries, the design of IWW vessels gains attention both from a transport efficiency and an emission control point of view. Usually, IWW ships are designed without ice operation concerns and are structurally weaker than ships designed according to ice-class notifications from the classification societies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Vehicle wakes subject to side wind conditions

    Författare :Magnus Urquhart; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; drag; surrogate model; cavity; Latin Hypercube Sampling; wake; aerodynamics; real world conditions; Proper Orthogonal Decomposition; wind averaged drag; Radial Basis Functions; side wind; optimization; tapered extensions; cycle averaged;

    Sammanfattning : Passenger vehicles are associated with travel flexibility, today it is clear that this flexibility impacts the environment. Passenger vehicles account for more than one-tenth of all greenhouse gasses in Europe with approximately a quarter of the vehicle's energy consumption wasted as aerodynamic drag. LÄS MER
