1. Offshore wind farms - ecological effects of noise and habitat alteration on fish
Sammanfattning : There are large gaps in our understanding how fish populations are affected by the anthropogenic noise and the alteration of habitat caused by the construction and operation of offshore wind farms. These issues are of great importance as the construction of offshore wind farms will increase all over the world in the near future. LÄS MER
2. Environmental Effects from Wave Power : Artificial Reefs and Incidental No-take Zones
Sammanfattning : Marine renewable technologies have rapidly been developing over the past decade. Wave power is one of the renewable sources and has the potential securing the renewable electricity production. LÄS MER
3. Habitat structure, degradation and management effects on coral reef fish communities
Sammanfattning : Coral reefs are among the most diverse and productive ecosystems on earth, and are critical to the survival of tropical marine ecosystems and sustenance of local human populations. However, coral reefs are quite vulnerable to disturbances, both natural and anthropogenic. LÄS MER
4. Effect of elevated pCO2 and environmental oxazepam on the behavior and physiology of teleost fish
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis investigated the effect of two aquatic pollutants on the behavior and physiology of teleost fish: i) elevated concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the context of ocean acidification and ii) low concentrations of the anxiolytic pharmaceutical oxazepam in the context of pharmaceutical pollution.Anthropogenic emissions of CO2 are lowering the pH of the oceans. 5. Macroalgae in tropical seascapes : regulating factors and functions in the coastal ecosystem
Sammanfattning : Although macroalgae usually are inconspicuous on pristine coral reefs, they often thrive on reefs that are subjected to various types of anthropogenic disturbance. This thesis consists of five papers and investigates how biomass and composition of macroalgal communities on coral reefs are affected by regulating factors, such as nutrient availability, herbivory, substrate availability and hydrodynamic forces.
