  1. 1. Factors influencing transferrin receptor-mediated brain delivery : Evaluating preclinical antibody-based proteins for PET imaging in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Rebecca Faresjö Melander; Stina Syvänen; Dag Sehlin; Robert Thorne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain delivery; bispecific antibody; transferrin receptor; Alzheimer s Disease; amyloid-beta; aging; single domain antibody; PET; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; Neurology; Neurologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody-based proteins targeting amyloid-beta (Aβ) could be used as radioligands in positron emission tomography (PET) to study Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology in the living brain. The prospective advantages of antibody-based PET are to detect pathology earlier, with higher sensitivity, and to evaluate treatment effects of emerging immunotherapies against Aβ. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Colour Vision in Birds : Comparing behavioural thresholds and model predictions

    Författare :Peter Olsson; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gallus gallus; receptor noise; visual modelling; animal training; colour discrimination; colour constancy;

    Sammanfattning : Birds use colour vision for many biologically relevant behaviours such as foraging and mate choice. Bird colour vision is mediated by four types of single cones, giving them an extra dimension of colour information compared to trichromatic humans. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling receptor induced signaling in MSNs : Interaction between molecules involved in striatal synaptic plasticity

    Författare :Anu G. Nair; Jeanette Hellgren Kotaleski; Omar Gutierrez-Arenas; Upinder S. Bhalla; Pierre Vincent; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Striatal synaptic plasticity; LTP; Dopamine; Acetylcholine; Synergy; Medium spiny neurons; MSNs;

    Sammanfattning : Basal Ganglia are evolutionarily conserved brain nuclei involved in several physiologically important animal behaviors like motor control and reward learning. Striatum, which is the input nuclei of basal ganglia, integrates inputs from several neurons, like cortical and thalamic glutamatergic input and local GABAergic inputs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Air pollution and dementia in a low exposure setting : the role of noise, olfaction, and theapoe gene

    Författare :John Andersson; Maria Nordin; Anna Oudin; Anna Sundström; Tom Russ; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Air pollution; Road traffic; NOx; dementia; APOE; Alzheimer’s disease; Apolipoprotein E; olfaction; particulate matter; vascular dementia; odor identification; odor detection; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Previous research indicates an association between air pollution exposure, and risk of dementia. Still, a number of factors that may play a role in this association remain to be explored. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Native protein mass spectrometry of nuclear receptor-ligand and enzyme-substrate complexes

    Författare :Johan Lengqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mass spectrometry; electrospray; nuclear receptor; retinoid X receptor; fatty acid; membrane protein; glutathione transferase; glutathione;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors (NRs) are transcription factors that are activated by the binding of low molecular weight ligands. The NR superfamily includes receptors for steroid hormones, anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering drugs as well as endogenous compounds such as bile acids and fatty acids. LÄS MER
