  1. 21. Design, Synthesis and Characterization of Galanin Receptor Selective Ligands

    Författare :Kristin E Webling; Ülo Langel; Gilberto Fisone; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; galanin; GAL1R; GAL2R; depression; epilepsy; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Galanin is a 29/30 amino acid long bioactive peptide discovered over 30 years ago when C-terminally amidated peptides were isolated from porcine intestines. The name galanin originates from a combination of the first and last amino acids - G from glycine and the rest from alanine. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Galanin : Studies by Modification of the Ligand and the Receptor

    Författare :Anders Juréus; Claes-Göran Östeson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi; neurokemi och neurotoxikologi; Neurochemistry and Neurotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the deeper understanding of the molecular details of the interaction between the neuropeptide galanin and its target protein, the G-protein coupled 7TM galanin receptor. The enzymatic control of galanin degradation and second messenger systems triggered by galanin receptor activation are also studied. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Targeting insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor in cancer

    Författare :Ada Girnita; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IGF1; IGF-1R; MDM2; p53; PPP; Tamoxifen; tyrosine kinase inhibitors; ubiquitin;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is a multi-step process where the accumulation of several genetic and epigenetic alterations drives the transformation of a normal cell to a malignant cell, skipping the normal control of defense, repair and apoptosis. During the selection process towards a malignant phenotype, the transforming cells make use of normal (physiological) extracellular signaling pathways to create growth advantage over normal cells. 4. 24. Modulation of nuclear receptor signaling by RBR ubiquitin ligases

    Författare :Nina Gustafsson Sheppard; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors (NRs) constitute a superfamily of transcription factors and play important roles in physiology. Transcriptional regulation by NRs can be modulated through interactions with various coregulators that activate or repress transcription through mediating receptor and chromatin modifications as well as communicating with the general transcription factor machinery. 5. 25. Toll-like receptor activation induced changes in dendritic cells

    Författare :Oscar Hammarfjord; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DC) are professional antigen-presenting cells that act as a “bridge” between innate and adaptive immunity by the induction and subsequent orchestration of immune responses. The ligation of Toll-like receptors (TLR) and other innate receptors on DC determines their immune-stimulating capacity. LÄS MER
