  1. 11. Receptivity of Boundary Layers under Pressure Gradient

    Författare :Lars-Uve Schrader; Luca Brandt; Dan Henningson; Tamer Zaki; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Leading-edge effects;

    Sammanfattning : Boundary-layer flow over bodies such as aircraft wings or turbine blades is characterized by a pressure gradient due to the curved surface of the body. The boundary layer may experience modal and non-modal instability, and the type of dominant instability depends on whether the body is swept with respect to the oncoming flow or not. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Endometrial receptivity and development of new contraceptive methods

    Författare :Lena Marions; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mifepristone; levonorgestrel; endometrial receptivity; emergency contraception; blastocyst implantation; integrins; cyclooxygenase;

    Sammanfattning : Ovulation and endometrial development as well as contraceptive efficacy was studied after treatment with the antiprogestin mifepristone. Mechanism of action after treatment with the gestagen levonorgestrel or mifepristone in doses effective for emergency contraception was also evaluated. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Human endometrial receptivity and embryo-endometrium interactions

    Författare :Signe Altmäe; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Infertility is an increasing medical and social problem affecting more than 10% of couples worldwide. Many underlying causes of human infertility have been overcome by assisted reproductive techniques; nevertheless, the implantation process remains one of the rate-limiting step as regards the success of the treatment. 4. 14. Plant-animal interactions and seed output of two insectpollinated herbs

    Författare :Anna R. Waites; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant reproduction; pollen limitation; pollinator behaviour; heterostyly; seed predation; Lythrum salicaria; Pedicularis palustris; stigma receptivity; self-pollen; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : I combined comparative and experimental studies in the field and in the greenhouse to examine factors influencing reproductive success in two insect-pollinated herbs, the tristylous, selfincompatible perennial Lythrum salicaria and the self-compatible, biennial Pedicularis palustris. More specifically, I explored (i) the effects of plant population characteristics on the intensity and outcome of interactions with pollinators and seed predators, (ii) whether flower morphology affects duration of stigma receptivity, and (iii) whether damage-induced reduction in floral display reduces pollinator visitation and increases pollen limitation. 5. 15. Endometrial receptivity and human embryo implantation : in vivo and in vitro studies

    Författare :Sujata Lalit Kumar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :3D-endometrial cell construct;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Infertility, one of the common gynaecological disorders, affects 10-15% women in their reproductive years. Despite the advances in assisted reproduction techniques and the best efforts of infertility specialists, implantation rates do not exceed more than 28-30%. LÄS MER
