Sammanfattning : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM. 4. Detection of pulmonary nodules in chest tomosynthesis: Comparison with chest radiography, evaluation of learning effects and investigation of radiation dose level dependency
Sammanfattning : Chest tomosynthesis is a relatively recently introduced technique in healthcare, which produces section images of the chest at a lower radiation dose than computed tomography (CT) and with better depth resolution than conventional chest radiography. The primary aims of the studies described in this dissertation were to compare chest tomosynthesis with conventional radiography, to evaluate the effects of clinical experience and learning with feedback on the performance of observers analyzing tomosynthesis images, and to investigate the effect of radiation dose level in tomosynthesis, in the detection of pulmonary nodules. 5. Cold-Electron Bolometers fabricated with Direct Write Technology for Microwave Receiver systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of microwave detector technology for cosmology instruments and THz imaging, including fabrication of SIN tunnel junctions for thermometry and bolometric detectors, and also phase switch circuits as a part of integrated microwave receiver systems. Cold-Electron Bolometers (CEB) based on Superconductor-Insulator-Normal metal (SIN) tunnel junctions have been developed for employment in sub-millimeter astronomical receivers. LÄS MER
