  1. 1. Sensory quality of pork : Influences of rearing system, feed, genotype, and sex

    Författare :Anette Jonsäll; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Domestic sciences; Sensory analysis; rearing system; genotype; sex; feed; pig; food quality; taste; muscle; Hushållsvetenskap; Domestic science and nutrition; Hushålls- och kostvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Hampshire crosses of different genotype and sex were used to investigate the effects of rearing system, feed and handling on sensory quality, consumer preference and cooking loss. A selected and trained panel carried out descriptive tests. Two preference tests were carrieout by, in each case, 200 consumers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The significance of blood vessels in organogenesis and cadherins in exploratory behaviour

    Författare :Josefina Edsbagge; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :; pancreas; sphingosine-1-phosphate; endothelium; epithelial-to-mesenchymal interactions; Cre loxP-system; cadherins; rearing;

    Sammanfattning : Organogenesis of epithelial organs requires interaction between epithelial andmesenchymal tissues. In pancreas development three different mesenchymal derivedstructures, the notochord, the endothelial cells and the splanchnic mesenchyme inducespecification, growth and further differentiation of the pancreatic epithelium. Författare :Nadine Schweizer; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Dai Stephens; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; subthalamic nucleus; STN; basal ganglia; locomotion; hyperlocomotion; rearing; ventral tegmental area; VTA; dopamine; glutamate; vesicular glutamate transporter 2; Vglut2; Parkinson s disease; deep brain stimulation; subpopulation; conditional knock-out; optogenetic; co-expression; in situ hybridization; self-administration; reward behavior; mouse genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia are the key circuitry controlling movement and reward behavior. Both locomotion and reward-related behavior are also modified by dopaminergic input from the substantia nigra and the ventral tegmental area (VTA). LÄS MER

  4. 4. In the Sea of Influence : A World System Perspective of the Nicobar Islands

    Författare :Simron Singh; Humanekologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Nicobar Islands; social metabolism; colonising nature; unequal exchange; economic history; Social and economic history; island studies; world system; Ekonomisk och social historia;

    Sammanfattning : From a “world system” perspective, this monograph describes the processes by which the Nicobar Islands became integrated into the global economy. Situated some 1,200 km off the east coast of India in the Bay of Bengal, the islands are home to an indigenous population of approximately 40,000 inhabitants who draw their sustenance from horticulture, pig rearing, fishing and, more recently, copra production. 5. 5. Inflammation and neurodegeneration in mouse nervous system : Experimental application

    Författare :Rui-Sheng Duan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN) is a CD4+ T cell mediated inflammatory autoimmune disease of peripheral nervous system (PNS) and shares many of clinical, immunological, electrophysiological and morphological characteristics of human Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Hence, EAN is considered to represent a useful model for studying the pathogenesis and therapy of human GBS. LÄS MER
