11. Power Reactor Noise Studies and Applications
Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with the neutron noise arising in power reactor systems. Generally, it can be divided into two major parts: first, neutron noise diagnostics, or more specifically, novel methods and algorithms to monitor nuclear industrial reactors; and second, contributions to neutron noise theory as applied to power reactor systems. 12. Advanced fuels for thermal spectrum reactors
Sammanfattning : The advanced fuels investigated in this thesis comprise fuels non− conventional in their design/form (TRISO), their composition (high content of plutonium and minor actinides) or their use in a reactor type, in which they have not been used before (e.g. nitride fuel in BWR). 13. Mechanistic Modeling of Wall-Fluid Thermal Interactions for Innovative Nuclear Systems
Sammanfattning : Next generation nuclear power plants (GEN-IV) will be capable of not only producing energy in a reliable, safe and sustainable way, but they will also be capable of reducing the amount of nuclear waste, which has been accumulated over the lifetime of current-generation nuclear power plants, through transmutation. Due to the use of new and different coolants, existing computational tools need to be tested, further developed and improved in order to thermal-hydraulically design these power plants. LÄS MER
14. Assessment and improvements of thermal-hydraulic correlations and methods for the analysis of the Jules Horowitz Reactor
Sammanfattning : Nuclear research reactors are used to test materials for current and future nuclear technologies, and to produce radioisotopes for medical purposes. Most of the existing Material Testing Reactors in Europe have operated for more than 50 years and new ones are needed. LÄS MER
15. Melt-water interactions in a reactor containment : from integrated assesment to phenomenological studies
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines melt-water interactions for theex-vessel phase of a severe reactor accident. The studies startfrom the development of an assessment methodology that tiestogether the vessel melt release scenarios and the mainprocesses affecting the melt-water interaction effects in thereactor containment.
