1. Time for Hyperons : Development of Software Tools for Reconstructing Hyperons at PANDA and HADES
Sammanfattning : The PANDA experiment at FAIR offers unique possibilities for performing hyperon physics. The detector will enable the reconstruction of both hyperon and antihyperon, which will be created together in proton-antiproton collisions. This enables investigations of the strong interaction in the non-perturbative regime. LÄS MER
2. Ultrafast Structural Changes in a Bacterial Photosynthetic Reaction Center probed with XFEL Radiation
Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and many species of bacteria convert energy from sunlight into chemical energy used to power their metabolism. As these plants and bacteria are eaten, the chemical energy moves up the food chain and thus photosynthesis provides fuel for almost all life on Earth. LÄS MER
3. Nuclear Intonation in Swedish : Evidence from Experimental-Phonetic Studies and a Comparison with German
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates Swedish intonation patterns and their interaction with word accent realisation in various pragmatic conditions, using German as a reference language. The point of departure is the wide-spread assumption that Swedish, as a language with a tonal word accent distinction, has a considerably smaller repertoire of nuclear intonation contours than German and other so-called intonation languages. 4. Representing discourse referents in speech and gesture
Sammanfattning : The thesis examines the way that speech and gestures are used together to represent referents in discourse. The starting point is the generally acknowledged observation that gestures are a constitutive part of language (Kendon, 2004; McNeill, 1992). LÄS MER
5. Lipidic-sponge phase crystallisation and time-resolved Laue diffraction studies of bacterial photosynthetic reaction centres
Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis is the procedure of light capture and converting it into a chemical energy source for the cell. The work-horse of this process are photosynthetic reaction centres, which capture photons with the help of their antenna complexes and use these photons to drive charge separation reactions, and ultimately chemiosmotic coupling.
