1. In search of a biosensor for DNT detection : Studies of inducer response and specificity of DntR
Sammanfattning : The primary aim of the work presented in this thesis was to change the inducer specificity of the DntR protein in order to improve the response to DNT. The long-term goal is to use this protein in a biosensor for DNT, a signature compound for detection of the explosive TNT. LÄS MER
2. Investigation and Optimization of the Acoustic Performance of Exhaust Systems
Sammanfattning : There is a strong competition among automotive manufacturers to reduce the radiated noise levels. One important source is the engine exhaust where the main noise control strategy is by using efficient mufflers. LÄS MER
3. Multidisciplinary Design in Aeronautics, Enhanced by Simulation-Experiment Synergy
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers some aspects of current aircraft design, and presents how experiment and simulation are used as tools. Together they give enhanced effects over employing either one separately. The work presented has been produced using both simulations and experiments. LÄS MER
4. Synchrotron-based characterization of mechanobiological effects on the nanoscale in musculoskeletal tissues
Sammanfattning : Collagen is the main organic building block of musculoskeletal tissues. Despite collagen being their smallest load bearing unit, these tissues differ significantly in mechanical function and properties. A major factor behind these differences is their hierarchical organization, from the collagen molecule up to the organ scale. LÄS MER
5. Packing effects in palladium(II) and platinum(II) compounds, X-ray crystallography
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on i) the effect of packing on the molecular geometry ii) packing arrangements of neutral Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes iii) the trans influence in Pt(II) complexes iv) the differences in bonding in corresponding Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes and v) the geometry of Pd(II) complexes with potential catalytic properties. Detailed three-dimensional structural information at the atomic level can be obtained from X-ray crystallography. LÄS MER
