6. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Aluminium Alloys for High Specific Power IC Engine Applications
Sammanfattning : The development towards higher specific power and lower displacement engines in recent years has placed increasingly high thermal loads on the internal combustion engine materials. Further, the advent of hybrid power trains placing higher demands on quick starts and a rapid approach to maximum power necessitates the automotive industry to move towards a more robust computational thermo-mechanical fatigue life prediction methodology to develop reliable engines and reduce developmental costs. 7. On Rate-Dependency of Gothenburg Clay
Sammanfattning : On Rate-Dependency of Gothenburg ClayMATS OLSSONDepartment of Civil and Environmental EngineeringDivision of GeoEngineeringChalmers University of TechnologyABSTRACTLong-term settlements in clay constitute a major engineering challenge in areas with deep deposits of soft clay. This dissertation aims to extend the understanding and theoretical framework of rate-dependent soil behaviour, so that uncertainties in predictions of long-term settlements are significantly reduced. 8. Simulation of welding and heat treatment : modelling and validation
Sammanfattning : Many aerospace components with complex geometry are fabricated from smaller parts using joining techniques such as welding. Welding and the heat treatment which usually follows, can result in unwanted deformation and stresses. LÄS MER
9. Modelling of high strain rate plasticity and metal cutting
Sammanfattning : Metal cutting is one of the most frequently used forming processes in the manufacturing industry. Extensive effort is made to improve its process and simulation has become an integrated part, not only in the product development process but also in the customer relations. LÄS MER
10. On modelling of slope stability in sensitive clay
Sammanfattning : The stability of natural slopes is a global problem, with the number of landslides and the associated socioeconomic losses increasing, as a result of the global trend of urbanisation, deforestation and changed weather patterns. The available methods for identifying potential failure modes and assessing the stability, however, overly simplify the modelled soil behaviour within a slope, which might lead to unnecessary mitigation measures or non-conservative results.
