1. Wild vegetables and micronutrient nutrition : Studies on the significance of wild vegetables in women's diets in Vietnam
Sammanfattning : The principal aim has been to investigate the contemporary role and importance of edible wild plants in the diets of women in different agro-ecological regions of Vietnam. Field studies were undertaken in four villages in the Mekong Delta (MD) and the Central Highlands (CH) in 1995-1999. LÄS MER
2. Fundamentals of a Methodology for Predictive Design Analysis
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of computer-based design analysis tools and methods such as the finite element method (FEM) within computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body systems (MBS) during recent decades has fundamentally changed the way in which products are designed and developed. Among the many advantages observed in industrial practice, one can mention improved understanding of product properties and behavior, the possibility to optimize critical design parameters and to optimize parts as well as the entire product at a system level, the possibility to explore a design space during the synthesis activity, and a decrease of the need for physical testing and thus of the number of physical prototypes needed. 3. Excessive Fluid Overload Among Haemodialysis Patients : Prevalence, Individual Characteristics and Self-regulation of Fluid Intake
Sammanfattning : This thesis is comprised of four studies and concerns haemodialysis patients’ confidence in being able to manage fluid intake between treatment sessions, and whether the fluid intake is influenced by certain modifiable characteristics of the persons in question. The overall aim was to study aspects of excessive fluid overload and haemodialysis patients’ self-regulation of fluid allotment from a bio-psychosocial and behavioural medicine perspective. LÄS MER
4. Antibiotic Resistance: A Multimethod Investigation of Individual Responsibility and Behaviour
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of antibiotic resistance is directly related to how antibiotics are used in society. The international effort to decrease and optimise the use of antibiotics should be sustained by the development of policies that are sensitive to social and cultural contexts. LÄS MER
5. Rules of Thumb and Management of Common Infections in General Practice
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with problem solving of general practitioners (GPs), which is explored with different methods and from different perspectives. The general aim was to explore and describe rules of thumb and to analyse the management of respiratory and urinary tract infections (RTI and UTI) in general practice in Sweden. LÄS MER
