  1. 1. Evolution of HIV-1 coreceptor use in relation to pathogenesis

    Författare :Ingrid Karlsson; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; RANTES; higly active antiretroviral therapy; pathogenesis; lymphoid tissue; cehmokine receptor; biological phenotype; coreceptor; HIV-1; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : HIV-1 uses the coreceptors CCR5 and/or CXCR4 in addition to CD4 to enter the host cell. CCR5-using HIV-1 (R5 phenotype) appears to transmit infection and usually dominates the early stages of disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Recombinant CXCR4/CCR5 hybrid receptors as tools for studies of HIV-1 receptor usage

    Författare :Liselotte Antonsson; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; evolution; pathogenesis; cerebrospinal fluid; Medicine human and vertebrates ; TAK-779; RANTES; CXCR4; CCR5; coreceptor; GPCR; HIV-1;

    Sammanfattning : The chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4 are required, together with CD4, for the entry of HIV-1 into target cells. CCR5 using HIV-1 dominates during transmission and the asymptomatic phase of infection. During progression, virus phenotypes with the ability to use CXCR4 emerge in about 50% of infected individuals. 3. 3. Development and Resolution of Allergic Airway Inflammation in vivo: effects of therapeutic intervention

    Författare :Lena Uller; Lungbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Animal models; Glucocorticoids; Eosinophils; Apoptosis; Asthma; Allergy;

    Sammanfattning : Eosinophils, containing tissue toxic granule proteins, are regarded a culprit cell in asthma pathogenesis. Using animal and human experimental models of asthma effects on eosinophilic airway inflammation were investigated in vivo. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Experimental studies on effects of orthodontic forces in generation of immune responses : possible roles for immunoregulating molecules in the control of alveolar bone remodeling

    Författare :Najat AL-Sayed AL-Hashimi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Orthodontic forces; inflammation; immune responses; cytokines; chemokines.;

    Sammanfattning : The transformation of orthodontic forces to periodontal tissues involves several biological mechanisms, which ultimately result in bone remodelling. It has been suggested that the immune system plays a role in the regulation of bone remodelling through production of immune mediators by inflammatory cells that have migrated from dilated periodontal ligament capillaries after the application of orthodontic force. 5. 5. Studies of the Effect of Enterovirus Infection on Pancreatic Islet Cells

    Författare :Asma Basheir Elshebani; Gun Frisk; Heiki Hyöty; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; type 1 diabetes; Human pancreatic islets; β-cells; chemokines; enterovirus; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD;

    Sammanfattning : Enterovirus (EV) infections have been associated with the pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). However, the pathway(s) by which EV may induce or accelerate diabetes is not well understood. LÄS MER
